RI State Rep calls Parkland shooting survivor "dummy" on Twitter

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) -- An outspoken state lawmaker and fierce defender of the Second Amendment is facing backlash over his choice of words on Twitter, directed at a student survivor of the Parkland, Florida school tragedy.

In the wake of the deadly shooting over the weekend at a waffle house in Nashville, Republican Rep. Mike Chippendale of Foster--and Parkland shooting survivor Emma Gonzalez, sparred on Twitter over the role of guns in keeping people safe.

Regarding the waffle house shooter, Gonzalez argued "the local police say a man at the scene wrestled his gun away - looks like you don't need to arm a teacher to stop a shooting."

Chippendale fired back, saying "if he did have a gun - the police still wouldn't be searching for the gunman, and the entire region wouldn't be on lockdown - dummy."

There's a reason we have something like nine elected Republicans in this state.

Police investigating possible hate crime in New York City subway assault

The New York City Police Department is investigating an incident involving a Hispanic man, who was allegedly beaten and pushed onto the subway tracks Friday night at Manhattan’s Union Square subway station.

According to the NYPD, the suspect is a black man wearing a red hat and red T-shirt that displayed President Trump’s campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.” The suspect shouted racial slurs at the victim.

A press release sent out by the NYPD on Saturday said the incident occurred after the 24-year-old victim “engaged in a verbal dispute” with the suspect on board a “4” train as it approached the Union Square station.

The NYPD said the suspect “made multiple derogatory statements regarding the victim’s ethnicity” during the argument. After the victim got off the train, police said the suspect followed him onto the platform and “punched him on his head multiple times” before pushing the victim onto the tracks.

A black Trump fan. Okay....

Lets not hail Stormy as a hero

I hope and pray she’s one of the last nails in the coffin. Make no mistake.

But the exchange in the interview where she talks about walking in the room and seeing Trump, that fat revolting fuck, sitting on the bed and all she can do is say “oh look what I’ve gotten myself into” and then has sex with him is one of the most pathetic things I’ve ever heard someone cop to.

Mississippi 9-year-old allegedly shoots teen sister to death over video game controller

A teenage Mississippi girl whose 9-year-old brother allegedly shot her over a video game has died, according to ABC Tupelo affiliate WTVA-TV.

Dijonae White, 13, died at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Tupelo Sunday evening after the boy allegedly shot her in the head during an argument Saturday over the video game’s controller, Monroe County officials told the station.

Officers responded to the scene around 1 p.m. Saturday and learned that White’s brother had allegedly grabbed a gun and shot his sister in the back of the head after she refused to hand over the controller, according to WTVA.

The children’s mother was in another room preparing lunch when the incident occurred, Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell told WTVA.

WWE Drops "Fabulous Moolah Memorial" Name From WrestleMania Match After Fan Protest

In a strange twist on what was otherwise a nakedly cynical bit of brand fluffing, WWE’s decision to name a new, annual women’s battle royal at WrestleMania after The Fabulous Moolah quickly became the biggest news story in wrestling. It’s a strange twist, but not a terribly unpredictable one—given the slew of past allegations of sexual and financial exploitation against Moolah from numerous wrestling trainees, it’s hard to imagine how WWE expected this to go over. The answer, we now know, is not very well.

The wide and boisterous negative response to the naming made the front page of Reddit via the article from wrestling/MMA news site Fightful, and seemed to be picking up more steam by the day. In response, WWE announced on Thursday that it would be dropping the “Fabulous Moolah Memorial Battle Royal” name.

It all comes down Snickers, the “Presented by” sponsor for this year’s WrestleMania. On Wednesday, a thread urging fans to reach out to the candy company about the Moolah issue was one of several Moolah topics on the front page of /r/SquaredCircle, which is by far the biggest pro wrestling group on Reddit. With it becoming clear that fans were indeed writing to them, Deadspin reached out to Mars Wrigley Confectionery US, the parent company of the Snickers brand, which issued the following statement:

We were recently made aware of the World Wrestling Entertainment Inc’s (WWE) decision to honor a former wrestler during the upcoming WrestleMania 34 event. As a principle-based business that has long championed creating inclusive environments that encourage and empower everyone to reach their full potential, this is unacceptable. We are engaging with the WWE to express our disappointment.

This is embarrassing

He is openly running down every president in front of these Congresspeople who quite frankly are being given a pass for their own inaction.

Rep. Claudia Tenney on MSNBC

Basically just insulted Nancy Pelosi saying she should spend time negotiating not “standing on her stiletto heels at her age for four hours”.

The host (Craig Melvin I think) was sort of stunned by this brazen cheap shot but she kept gish galloping on until they abruptly went to commercial

Did anyone see this? Please tell me she’s in danger of losing her job!

Larry Nassar's lawyer doubts he could have assaulted so many people

CNN)Michigan Lawyer Shannon Smith is part of the defense team representing disgraced sports doctor Larry Nassar, who pleaded guilty to 10 counts of criminal sexual conduct in two state courts.

In his first sentencing, the court heard from more than 150 people who accused him of abuse. Now, in the midst of his latest hearing, the court has heard from 29 people so far.

But in an exclusive interview with WWJ Newsradio 950 in Detroit, Smith expressed doubts about the true number of victims.

"I have a very hard time believing that my client could have even possibly assaulted that many people day in and day out in front of their parents, and that every single one of those things was a crime, but he was such a manipulator he got away with it," she told WWJ. "I just can't imagine that's true."
