California Is Booming. Why Are So Many Californians Unhappy?

"What’s happening in California right now is a warning shot to the rest of the country,” said Jim Newton, a journalist, historian and lecturer on public policy at the University of California, Los Angeles. “It’s a warning about income inequality and suburban sprawl, and how those intersect with quality of life and climate change.”

"You can see this in California economic forecasts for 2020, which play down the threat of a global trade war and play up the challenge of continuing to add jobs without affordable places for middle- and lower-income workers to live. You can see it in the Legislature, which has raised the minimum wage, and next year is poised to debate a bill that could reshape the state by essentially forcing cities to allow multistory buildings near transit stops. You also can see it in the stories of people like Ms. Johnson and other highly educated workers who have gone elsewhere."

"This has made California the most expensive state — with a median home value of $550,000, about double that of the nation — and created a growing supply of three-hour “super commuters.” And while it has some of the highest wages in the country, it also has the highest poverty rate based on its cost of living, an average of 18.1 percent from 2016 to 2018. That helps explain why the state has lost more than a million residents to other states since 2006, and why the population growth rate for the year that ended July 1 was the lowest since 1900."

It is now "cool" to hex tRump with binding spells each month.

"Witches went mainstream"
"2019 might have been the year women went “full witch” and occultism became cool. The Democratic process proving slow and unwieldy, “resistance witches” turned to hexes and binding spells to try and get rid of Trump. Perhaps they are having an effect; the man has spent a large portion of the year screaming “WITCH-HUNT”.

On DU we have been "binding" tRump since Feb., 2017. The next spell will be on Jan., 28, 2020. The dates for 2020 are: Jan. 28, Feb. 20, March 21, April 19, May 19, June 18, July 17, Aug.15, Sept.14, Oct.13, Nov.12 and Dec.11. The dates are three days before the "new moon" each month.

Santa Claus

Perhaps the strangest film about Santa I have seen. Outer space, the devil and It's a Small World all combined into one very odd yet funny film. I recommend drinking strong eggnog while watching.

Pelosi just said they are going to decide about sending it to the Senate!

She is waiting for what she considers is a fair trial and Mitch is not doing that at this time so she will wait. She also wants more evidence to be allowed for a fair trial.

Fucking A!!!!!

"In recent weeks, some legal scholars have suggested Speaker Nancy Pelosi could consider refusing to transmit articles of impeachment — likely to pass the House Wednesday evening — to the Senate, where Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has declared he is coordinating trial strategy with the White House."

If this is the schedule and line up, how long until it's over?

Kevin speaks, House votes on one article, Nancy speaks then the House votes on second article.

Protestors demonstrate across the country ahead of House vote on Trump impeachment
By Madeline Holcombe, CNN

"Hours before the House votes on whether to impeach President Donald Trump, hundreds of demonstrators gathered in Times Square Tuesday night chanting "Tell me who's above the law? Nobody is above the law!"

"They weren't alone. Rallies sprang up from Oregon to Florida on the eve of the vote on two articles of impeachment against Trump, charging him with abuse of power and obstruction of justice. Democrats say Trump pressured Ukraine to investigate his political rivals in exchange for security aid and that he obstructed a congressional investigation by refusing to allow key officials to testify."

"Demonstrators in Times Square lined up to stretch a sign for those above them to read. It quoted Article II Section 4 of the Constitution: The president, vice president and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors."

"In Saint Paul, Minnesota, a crowd gathered to carol but changed the words to the familiar "We wish you a merry Christmas." "We wish you would leave the White House, some time by New Year," they sang together."

The Lincoln Project: New never-tRumpers' group

https://lincolnproject.us/

No, I am not supporting the GOP but find it interesting how the GOP started The Tea Party 10 years ago and now the rest of the GOP is going in the other direction. They sure like naming their groups after classic, patriotic Americans/events. Seems pretty hypocritical to me. I am glad there are never-tRumpers like Schmidt, Wilson, Conway, etc but I will not support any GOP project. I never trust them, ever!

About BigmanPigman

I am 57, retired teacher and illustrator, life-long dem., activist, union member. Also I do not use social media and I'm technologically retarded. I love dogs, rock music and swearing (a lot). My 17 year old "puppy" died on June 2, 2020. She grew up listening to Animals (Pink Floyd). She has kept me sane through the tRump years, not easy, and has given me endless love, companionship, kisses and tail wags.
