Took Maybee to the creek near my house this afternoon for some fun.

The smoke cleared out and we had a bluebird afternoon. She herds moving water in typical border collie fashion. When we go to a pond or lake she will fetch a toys but at the creek she’s a working girl. She came home tired…at least for the moment.

Sometime in the last two hours

someone slapped this sticker on my mailbox. I’ve got no issue with *ucker Carlson being portrayed as a nazi, it’s just odd that this ended up on my personal mailbox…anybody that knows me would know I hate this MF. Guess it was random…but it’s weird all the same.

I’m just asking questions…

My kiddo will be a senior in high school as of tomorrow morning.

I’m incredibly emotional about it. Where did 17 years go? He’s my only child. I gave birth to Owen at the age of 41 after two miscarriages. I cannot believe that this beautiful gifted child was given to me. He’s smart and incredibly funny. He’s the spitting image of my late father which is a gift that I can’t even describe. He loves to fish, play piano and guitar. He is a deep thinker and his BS detector is second to none. I think he will stay in Missoula and major in music at the University of Montana but he’s being courted by a crap ton of schools so I don’t really know what he will eventually decide to do. Owen is a beautiful soul and while it’s easy for me to say that I love him…It feels important to say that I just like him so much. I wish him the best this last year of high school.

He gave me permission to share this pic with you all. He knows what DU means to me and that you all are my friends.

I guess it's International Dog Day!

I’ve had lots of dogs in my life and love them all fiercely. Never have I subscribed to letting a dog on the bed…until this little whirlwind came into my life. It’s Maybee’s world, I’m just in her orbit. Now I can’t sleep without this nugget next to me.

Some photos of echinacea from my front yard.

For the record, it’s the first year I’ve been able to get my echinacea to actually bloom before the deer eat it to the ground. I’ve been using some spray called Deer Away and it works pretty well. It smells like mint and I guess deer don’t like mint. I’ve so enjoyed seeing these beautiful flowers grow….finally!

Beautiful clouds tonight from my back yard.

I’m sure one of you smarties will know what this is…I just know it was gorgeous.

Anybody hearing the deceptive ads on XM Radio regarding lowering drug prices?

I was listening to XM while mowing the lawn and I hear an ad paid for by Pharma.com describing the ongoing research for diseases such as Alzheimer's and cancer and how much of that research will cease if Congress is allowed to pass legislation lowering drug prices. RUFKM? Maybe you've all heard these ads but this was new for me. Big pharma basically blackmailing people into accepting outrageous drug prices in exchange for research to cure diseases that have ruined millions lives. Deplorable.

Here's an article about the ads running in NV: https://rollcall.com/2022/07/29/groups-launch-last-ditch-effort-against-drug-pricing-changes/

I haven't heard the ads on terrestrial radio, yet. Maybe the passage of the IRA will make this go away.

Regarding Kansas. You'll like this!

I’m currently on an annual wine tasting trip in Walla Walla, Washington with my cousin and two other women. Today, we were at a winery, chatting about the KS decision and that we were feeling hopeful for the first time in a long while. We were sitting at a table next to a young couple and their doggo who were clearly able to overhear our conversation. I locked eyes with the woman and she immediately looked away but then said “I heard you mention the Kansas vote on abortion. We’re from KS. My husband just finished his residency in Obstetrics in Spokane and we’re headed back to KS next month.” I said “I don’t know how you feel about choice but we’re toasting KS today” The young woman said that they were both life long Kansans and were thrilled with the decision. She said that her husband had just landed a job in a clinic on the KS-MO border and he would be welcoming patients in need of reproductive care including abortion to the practice he was joining. Then! The folks at the table on the other side of the young couple all raised their glasses and said “To Kansas!” We all did the same. It was a wonderful, organic moment.

I felt a little bit of hope and positivity when I least expected it.

To Kansas! To hope!

Maybee. Frisbee. All day every day.

She’s so much fun. It’s been really hot here so we’re not hiking as much. We play frisbee in the morning and then a little bit a couple hours later and then again after dinner. This morning we took a run before the sun was up but the bears are out now so we have to be mindful of that. By the time I take her to work with me she’s at least somewhat calm. I love her to bits.

Pottinger is a tool.

Still in the cult. I’ll bet he strokes his CV when he’s alone at night. Toolie McToolerson.
