Santa Cruz ends beach closure because 'people are not willing to be governed anymore'

I live south of the city of Santa Cruz overlooking the beach and have seen the park rangers and sheriffs try to warn people off the beaches and they do their best but are outnumbered.

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KGO) -- Beaches in Santa Cruz County will reopen starting at midnight Thursday night, even as the county's coronavirus continue to rise.

"We had hoped to continue the beach closure until after Fourth of July weekend, but it's become impossible for law enforcement to continue to enforce that closure," said Santa Cruz County health officer Dr. Gail Newel. "People are not willing to be governed anymore in that regard."

Beaches have been closed to sunbathers and picnickers for weeks in Santa Cruz, with a "keep it moving" policy to discourage congregating. That will no longer be the case starting Friday morning.

Starting July 6, the county's shelter-in-place order will expire, bringing Santa Cruz County fully in line with the state's reopening timeline.

Woman forcibly removed by Tulsa PD from Trump Rally for wearing "I can't breathe" Tee Shirt

She had a ticket and everything but wasn't cheerful enough. I believe it was outside the venue proper.

Funny, Tulsa relaxed the curfew to permit Trump supporters but wouldn't let her sit solemnly on the sidewalk this morning.

Scroll down through this article for more detail about her.

Up-armored HUMVEEs rolling into Tulsa for big party, festive displays in windows across street

I wonder if Trump will authorize an airstrike against the property at Adams Apartments across from the BOK Center.

Naperville: Young white girls posting hearts "Black Lives Matter", watch as assholes take them down

Video shows women ripping down heart-shaped ‘Black Lives Matter’ flyers as teens who posted them cry

The footage was streamed on Facebook Live by the community page “365 Things to Do in Naperville, Illinois,” run by Ann Marie Holland and Ken Tracy. The couple told Storyful they were sitting on a bench nearby, heard the argument, and began filming.

Alyssa Helm, who identified herself as one of the teenagers in the video, commented on the post on Facebook, saying the confrontation had encouraged her and her friends to put up more of the “Black Lives Matter!” hearts around the neighborhood.

“I’m in this video and am very thankful for the nice people who came and helped. Thank you for recording this and letting us have a voice,” Helm commented on the livestream.

As protests condemning police brutality continued across the country following the death of George Floyd, who died on May 25 when a white Minneapolis police officer pressed his knee on Floyd’s neck, incidents like the one filmed in the Chicago suburb have emerged on social media.
