Communications director for Roy Moore campaign resigns

Source: The Hill

John Rogers, communications director for Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore, has resigned, the campaign confirmed on Wednesday.
"As we all know, campaigns make changes throughout the duration of the campaign, as do those working in the campaign," Campaign Chairman Bill Armistead said in a statement. "John made the decision to leave the campaign last Friday - any representations to the contrary are false - and we wish him well."

DrumpfCare sucks out loud!

Got my renewal notice from Florida Blew (formerly: Blue Cross Blue Shield) today. If I stay with the shitty Bronze plan I have now, my monthly premium goes up 13% in January, but the deductible goes up 30%.

Before I dive into The Marketplace™, does anyone know of any good, affordable health plans in Florida?

Eugene Robinson: Trump's the one who didn't know 'what he was signing up for'

At the risk of overstating the fucking obvious, WaPo columnist Eugene Robinson put in writing what most of us have known for over a year now:

What Trump reportedly said to the grief-stricken widow of Sgt. La David Johnson, who gave his life for his country, is not some kind of minor miscue or media-fueled distraction. It speaks to the core issue of Trump's character and demonstrates, as clearly as any incident to date, his unfitness for the office he holds -- and dishonors.

...

Trump is a weak, narcissistic man in a job that requires strength and empathy. I'm not sure that empathy is a concept he even understands. He acts as if he believes that feeling someone else's pain is strictly for losers, not winners.

None of this is a surprise. We learned a lot about Trump during the campaign when he attacked the Khan family, who lost a son in Iraq, for having the temerity to attack him politically. We have a president who believes that making the ultimate sacrifice for the nation is less important than supporting or opposing Trump.

GOP CongressCreep defends Drumpf's Tweets: "He's Just A Fun Guy"

Rep. Chris Collins (R-N.Y.) apparently can’t help but laugh when he thinks about President Donald Trump’s bizarre behavior on Twitter over the weekend.

CNN’s Alisyn Camerota attempted to ask Collins on Monday what he thought about Trump’s recent tweets, which shared a doctored image of the president appearing to hit Hillary Clinton with a golf ball, and called North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un a “rocket man.”

But the Republican member of Congress began giggling before Camerota could finish asking the question.

Read on here.

Yeah. Calling Kim "Rocket Man" was a real kneeslapper. But not nearly as side-splitting as his retweet of that hateful golf GIF.

I think of 45 more as fungi. As in fungal infection. Much worse than a brittle and discolored toenail. And much, much harder to cure.

Fox News Host Sent Unsolicited Lewd Text Messages To Colleagues, Sources Say

Source: Huffington Post

Eric Bolling, a longtime Fox News host, sent an unsolicited photo of male genitalia via text message to at least two colleagues at Fox Business and one colleague at Fox News, a dozen sources told HuffPost.

Recipients of the photo confirmed its contents to HuffPost, which is not revealing their identities. The women, who are Bolling’s current and former Fox colleagues, concluded the message was from him because they recognized his number from previous work-related and informal interactions. The messages were sent several years ago, on separate occasions.

The women did not solicit the messages, which they told colleagues were deeply upsetting and offensive. One of the recipients said that when she replied to Bolling via text, telling him never to send her such photos again, he did not respond. Four people, outside of the recipients, confirmed to HuffPost they’d seen the photo, and eight others said the recipients had spoken to them about it.

For this story, HuffPost spoke to 14 sources in and out of Fox News and Fox Business, all of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity either because they currently work at the networks and aren’t allowed to speak to members of the press without prior authorization or because they have confidentiality agreements with Fox News and its parent company 21st Century Fox.

Audubon Society asks us to adopt a bird

A worthy cause, to be sure.

Just one question: could I adopt THIS bald eagle?
S/he is my hero.

Best analogy I've seen so far

OK, I'm a sci-fi geek, so that might explain why I find this quote relevant to today's headlines:

Astronomers can't see black holes directly. They map them by their event horizon and their effect on nearby stars and stellar matter. We can't see yet what's at the center of the Trump/Russia black hole. But we can tell a lot about its magnitude by the scope of the event horizon and the degree of its gravitational pull, which is immense.
