I was just told that Fox News used some of my music as a bumper for a show.

Of all the stations. Sheese!
I'd better get money out it! Gotta contact ASCAP, asap.

I just saw a police chase in L.A. on tv...

Several highway patrol (CHP) cars, and a helicopter were following a late model black Mercedes with tinted windows.
The driver finally exited the freeway, and slowly pulled over to the side.
The officers got out of their cars, walked over and tapped on the window. No guns drawn. No hesitation.
The driver stepped out. She looked to be a 60-70 year old white woman.
They brought walked her to the side of the street and began talking to her. The news station shut off the coverage.

I wonder if she'll even be fined.

That's how we ALL should be treated: not just rich white people in expensive cars.

Been watching live footage of the Ferguson protests via....

"I am Mike Brown Live from Ferguson, MO"
http://new.livestream.com/accounts/9035483/events/3271930

It was very interesting. Then the police set up a line, and started marching forward down the boulevard and began announcing that if you weren't with the media with credentials, you had to leave.

They also announced the media must stay within the media area.

Then, within minutes, they changed the announcement to ...the media must go back to command post (something like that). At which point, the live feed had to drive to a designated area.

They drove to where they were told (several miles away). They waited, the police at this post checked their credentials (twice) and they were directed to a NEW area miles away...to me, at this point (since they have been gassing up their vehicle) it appears media has been completely removed from giving any credible reporting on what's going on.

I can only wonder how many iPhones the police have smashed at ground zero.

Live feed from Ferguson?

I was watching a live feed from Ferguson last night (I believe it was an independent news source), but I can't locate it.
Anyone know what it may have been? I recall it started with an "A."

We're getting some rain in Southern California tonight...

The clouds in Southern California have been like the Republicans in congress: they have been showing up, but haven't been doing anything.

What's passing through tonight, must be executive order clouds.
I wonder if they'll get sued.

I had to share this photo of my dog. Maybe it will brighten someone's day.

My wife took the picture with her iPhone today at a park in San Pedro, California. She sent it to me, and I thought it was beautiful.
I guess it's the green openness behind my smiling pup that makes it.

I was laid off 2 years ago, and after the agony of trying to find FT work, I decided to...

freelance /contract (whatever you want to call it).
There was some work here and there, but I would only find work in pieces and then it would grow silent. This went on for over a year—and I was still looking for FT work during this time.

But suddenly, in the past month, I'm up to my ears in work. I'm actually concerned that I may have to say no to a couple of projects.

One of the projects came over because the skeleton crew at a company, said there was no way they could handle a certain project. And this company (and others) seem to want to keep me around, so they give me bit work ahead of time, to lure me in for more work in the future.

What I'm beginning to think is that the companies that scaled back their work force since the "Great Recession," are now having to scramble to find help—because their skeletons are getting PISSED!

I hope so. I hope things are improving and this isn't just another hiccup.

Keep your fingers crossed. FWIW.

A friend of ours signed up for Obamacare...

She drives 50 miles each way for part time work. Her mom is on welfare.

She signed up with ACA and is paying $1 a month. She's permitted 3 visits per year, and the co-pay is $60.
I don't know about emergency care, etc.

Although I feel this doesn't cover much, before ACA, there is NO WAY Blue Cross, Kaiser, etc would have offered her something like this.
Hopefully, she can improve her income and find better health care, but at least she now has something.

After hearing her story, I am so hoping the public option will one day make it's way to the US. Another wish: I don't know if ACA deals with dental, but I feel dental insurance is so important, and the two should not be separated—I've never understood why dental and medical are separate.

Happy 4th of July (made it with 2 minutes until midnight)!
...although, my pup isn't happy on the 4th of July

My very best furry friend and firework fear: Thundershirt?

When fireworks start (and there are some loud M80 types months before and after the 4th around here) our pup paces, pants and wants to go to the garage to go into the car—probably wants us to drive her somewhere else.

Last year, we gave her the vet recommended medication, but I don't like how it just makes her limp. I read that the dog can still fear the fireworks, but just is unable to move.

Has anyone else used a Thundershirt with good results? I just now wrapped a back brace around her, and it didn't notice much difference in her reaction.

Thanks for any input DU'rs!
