Kilauea Volcano Eruptions are Raining Green Gems on Hawaii's Big Island

The eruptions of Hawaii's Kilauea volcano have rained tiny green gems known as olivines onto the island's streets and beaches.
The minerals are found in volcanic rocks and land around Hawaii.
They have always been there but have been dislodged by the recent eruptions and are coming shooting down on residents as a result.
Some have collected the minerals from beaches and streets since they were spurted out and say it is proof of the wonders of nature.

A silver lining.

I'm not TOO much of a meme person, but this one got a snicker out of me...

The last time I was THIS concerned...okay, worried...about the future of the U.S. economy

was after Bush and Cheney brought the U.S. to its' knees in late 2007.

At that time, I was driving one+ hours each way to and from work, and listening to the reports about what will probably happen in the next few years...it was distressing:
- small businesses will be shutting their doors pretty quickly.
- large businesses (and few will survive) will be closing stores and laying off workers just to keep in business.
- the U.S. auto industry won't survive
...and that was on the corporate owned radio stations—forget listening to any "honest" liberal stations—the news was worse!

Then, little by little, President Obama began putting bandages on everything (what a relief it was that he was at the helm), and we survived. It didn't get nearly as dark as those radio stations were saying...but it was touch and go there for a while—I was seriously picturing the 1930's soup/bread lines!

But here I am again (here we are again): the Republicans are in COMPLETE control, and we're on the verge of who knows what. I can honestly say it feels worse this time, because it seems like WWIII is looming, and we're the bad guys (not to mention we have a completely inept person at the helm this time).

So...
WTF do these people use for brains?!! They vote these asshole GOP freaks in time and time again? But time and time again, it's the same broken record.

There seems to be a lot of Democratic party bashing in the past couple weeks on DU.

Right now—more than EVER in the history of the U.S.—we need unity.
The GOP is the party of Putin and billionaires.
The Democratic Party is the party of the U.S. and protecting our constitution—the party of the rest of us!

One thing I'm learning while living through this Trump-Putin-GOP attempt at stealing our country...

the rich and powerful are NOT afraid of breaking the law.
Over, and over, and over, and over.
Everyday.
United States of America laws, seem to be the least of their worries.
If ANYTHING changes after we make it through these times, I hope it's that white collar crime gets harsher sentences.

I'm tired of reading and hearing about how that spoiled, rich, lying, cheating, criminal, traitorous MF'r and his rich Russian MF'rs, and his rich traitor GOP pals are attempting bring down the U.S.A.

It's sure starting to look like Trump/Putin/GOP are taking the Cheney/Bush approach to starting war.

It's frigging scary wondering what these bastards are plotting to do to us so they can have their war.

Hawaii's Kilauea volcano erupts, county issues evacuations

HONOLULU --
Hawaii's Kilauea volcano erupted Thursday, releasing red lava into a residential neighborhood and prompting mandatory evacuation orders for nearby homes.

Hawaii County said steam and lava poured out of a crack in Leilani Estates, which is near the town of Pahoa on the Big Island.

The eruption comes after days of earthquakes rattled the area's Puna district.
