[link:https://www.edx.org/about-us|

We're empowering learning in the classroom and around the globe

At edX, we believe in the highest quality education, both online and in the classroom.

EdX was created for students and institutions that seek to transform themselves through cutting-edge technologies, innovative pedagogy, and rigorous courses.

Through our institutional partners, the xConsortium, along with other leading global members, we present the best of higher education online, offering opportunity to anyone who wants to achieve, thrive, and grow.

Our goals, however, go beyond offering courses and content. We are committed to research that will allow us to understand how students learn, how technology can transform learning, and the ways teachers teach on campus and beyond.

As innovators and experimenters, we want to share what we discover. The edX platform is available as open source. By conducting and publishing significant research on how students learn, we will empower and inspire educators around the world and promote success in learning.

Our aim is to become a leading resource for learners and learning worldwide by staying focused on the goals and principles set forth when forming edX:

Our goals
•Expand access to education for everyone
•Enhance teaching and learning on campus and online
•Advance teaching and learning through research

Our principles
•Nonprofit
•Open source platform
•Collaborative
•Financially sustainable

EdX is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts and is governed by MIT and Harvard.[/b]

Injustice against Lesbian, African American Women - Documentary

[link:http://www.advocate.com/year-review/2014/12/24/10-best-lgbt-documentaries-2014?page=0,9|

"Out in the Night"

In 2006 a group of African-American lesbians were arrested after an encounter in downtown Manhattan with a straight man who made unwanted sexual advances that resulted in the man’s hospitalization for a minor injury. The sensationalized media coverage of the incident painted the group as a vicious gang, and several of the women received prison sentences that were disproportionate to the nature of the incident. Directed by Blair Doroshwalther, Out in the Night is an important documentary that tells the story from the point of view of these women. Through interviews, Doroshwalther demonstrates how sexism, racism, and homophobia resulted in failures by both the government and media in serving justice.

What's in a face?

The "Picture of Dorian Gray" comes to my mind when I look at Bill Cosby's face. He will never admit to the number of women he has drugged and raped. So, just an imaginative idea here ..... what if you could look at his face a figure out his inner "Dorian Gray"? I came up with something .... count all the moles on his face and that will give some idea of that number. I am not trying to insult anyone with moles here! But Cosby has way to many ones that might be revealing his ugly, secret story. That is if, you can stand looking at his face .....

By Andy Borowitz

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Former Vice-President Dick Cheney on Tuesday called upon the nations of the world to “once and for all ban the despicable and heinous practice of publishing torture reports.”

“Like many Americans, I was shocked and disgusted by the Senate Intelligence Committee’s publication of a torture report today,” Cheney said in a prepared statement. “The transparency and honesty found in this report represent a gross violation of our nation’s values.”

“The publication of torture reports is a crime against all of us,” he added. “Not just those of us who have tortured in the past, but every one of us who might want to torture in the future.”

Saying that the Senate’s “horrifying publication” had inspired him to act, he vowed, “As long as I have air to breathe, I will do everything in my power to wipe out the scourge of torture reports from the face of the Earth.”

Cheney concluded his statement by calling for an international conference on the issue of torture reports. “I ask all the great nations of the world to stand up, expose the horrible practice of publishing torture reports, and say, ‘This is not who we are,’ ” Cheney said.
