Republicans' County Fair 'Squad' Dartboard Promotes 'Violence Against Women of Color,' Democrats Say
By Benjamin Fearnow On 7/31/19 at 4:12 PM EDT

A pair of booth games set up by a local Pennsylvania Republican Party featured the faces of several Democratic Party congresswomen and drew accusations of "violence against women" and "childish" behavior.

The chairman of the Fayette County GOP said a dartboard featuring the tacked-up photographs of "Squad" members Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ayanna Pressley and Ilhan Omar as well as other Democratic leaders was "all in total fun." But the Pennsylvania Democratic Party and a few Fayette County Fair attendees in Uniontown said the dart game encouraged "violence against women of color" at a family event in which children are present.

The county GOP group took down the dart board this week after several social media posts blasted it as "extreme poor taste."

But Chairman Bill Kozlovich told KDKA-TV he will keep the cornhole (bags) boards which has holes drilled in the mouths of Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senator Chuck Schumer, California congresswoman Maxine Waters and Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf.

"This was just a way of people having a little fun and a conversation starter," Kozlovich told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Wednesday. "It was for people to have fun and laugh at. I quit taking count of how many people came up and said, 'Where's the board?,' 'I don't see the boards,' 'I want to play.'".............................

Lindsey Graham Is So Scared Of Trump Impeachment That He’s Threatening The House

Sen. Lindsey Graham warns that there would be collateral damage if the House tries to impeach Donald Trump.

CNN’s Manu Raju tweeted:

The real meaning of what Lindsey Graham was saying to the House

Besides the fact that Senator Graham was warning House Democrats not to impeach his new political daddy, there was a serious threat in his statement. Graham was saying that if House Democrats impeach Trump, the Senate is going to freeze the House out. There will be no more legislation from the House that will get passed in the Senate. Mitch McConnell’s Senate majority will ignore everything that comes out of the House, including articles of impeachment..............................

114 House Democrats now support an impeachment inquiry

Source: dailykos

Wednesday July 31, 2019 · 1:49 PM CDT

The number of House Democrats who’ve come out in favor of an impeachment inquiry continues to rise after former special counsel Robert Mueller’s House testimony last week. Days ago, the number was 106—and that represented a sharp climb. As of Wednesday, 114 House Democrats support at least opening an impeachment inquiry.

The additions to the list include two members who defeated incumbent Republicans in 2018: Rep. Jennifer Wexton of Virginia and Rep. Jason Crow of Colorado.

“I did not run for office with the purpose of impeaching the president, but I did take an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution,” Wexton tweeted. “After much deliberation, it is time for the House of Representatives to assert our constitutional responsibility and begin an impeachment inquiry.”

...................................

Why? “To this day the President prevents key witnesses from testifying before Congress, wrongly asserts executive privilege to dodge subpoenas, and attempts to skirt court rulings. If Congress doesn’t stand up to these abuses, then our system of checks and balances will have failed. It’s clear that we must respond with the full weight of Congress.”...................................

Suburban women recoil as Trump dives into racial politics

Source: AP

By MARC LEVY and SCOTT BAUER today

BROOKFIELD, Wis. (AP) — Carol Evans approves of Donald Trump’s immigration policy. She gives him credit for the strong economy. But the Republican from the affluent Milwaukee suburbs of Waukesha County, a GOP bedrock in the state, just can’t commit to voting for the president next year like she did in 2016.

“I just don’t like the way he talks about other people,” Evans, a 79-year-old retired data entry supervisor, said recently as she walked through a shopping mall in Brookfield, Wisconsin, days after Trump fired off a racist tweet at Democratic congresswomen.

The president’s recent return to racial politics may be aimed at rallying his base of white working-class voters across rural America. But the risks of the strategy are glaring in conversations with women like Evans.

Many professional, suburban women — a critical voting bloc in the 2020 election — recoil at the abrasive, divisive rhetoric, exposing the president to a potential wave of opposition in key battlegrounds across the country.

In more than three dozen interviews by The Associated Press with women in critical suburbs, nearly all expressed dismay — or worse — at Trump’s racially polarizing insults and what was often described as unpresidential treatment of people. Even some who gave Trump credit for the economy or backed his crackdown on immigration acknowledged they were troubled or uncomfortable lining up behind the president....................

'A lot of yelling': President Donald Trump had a contentious meeting with airline CEOs, report says

Jordan Culver, USA TODAY Published 10:00 p.m. ET July 29, 2019 | Updated 10:10 a.m. ET July 30, 2019

A meeting between President Donald Trump, the CEOs of some of the biggest airlines in the U.S. and Qatar Airways CEO Akbar al Baker devolved into "a lot of yelling," according to a report from NBC News detailing the meeting.

The group met in the Oval Office in what NBC News called an "'Apprentice'-worthy showdown." The outlet reported CEOs of American Airlines and United Airways were in attendance to air some grievances regarding what they believe are unfair practices by airlines in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

However -- and much to Trump's chagrin -- Delta Airlines CEO Ed Bastian was absent, according to NBC News.

"The president kept going back to it," a source who attended the meeting told NBC News regarding Bastian's absence. "There was a lot of yelling."

WASHINGTON — The three largest U.S. airlines presumed that President Donald Trump would take their side in a ferocious, yearslong dispute with Persian Gulf-based airlines — if they could just get his attention.

They got his attention, by way of TV ads the president saw on Fox News. But when Trump finally gathered executives from both sides of the dispute this month in the Oval Office for a heated, "Apprentice"-worthy showdown, he ultimately sided against them.

During an hour-long session, the president ribbed American Airlines CEO Doug Parker over his company’s flagging stock price, asking why it’s so low at a time when the stock market is surging. He scolded Delta Airlines, whose CEO Ed Bastian did not attend, for buying billions in planes from the European firm Airbus while Qatar Airways is buying its jets from Chicago-based Boeing Co.

And he repeatedly harped on Bastian’s absence, questioning how he could be a no-show after his airline — more than any other — had been fanning the flames of the fight...................................

The sentiment echoes President Donald Trump , who tweeted this month that Omar and three other minority congresswomen should return to the "broken and crime infested places" they came from. All four are U.S. citizens.

Louisiana Republican Congressman Ralph Abraham has said he'd pay for the women to leave, if only they'd tell him where they'd like to go...............................
