MMM -- Terrible Tuesday

Unknown Artist. Unknown Work.

Bob Dylan. “A Hard Rain’s A Gonna Fall”

Oh, where have you been, my blue-eyed son?
Oh, where have you been, my darling young one?
I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
I've walked and I've crawled on six crooked highways
I've stepped in the middle of seven sad forests
I've been out in front of a dozen dead oceans
I've been ten thousand miles in the mouth of a graveyard
And it's a hard, and it's a hard, it's a hard, and it's a hard
And it's a hard rain's a-gonna fall

Oh, what did you see, my blue-eyed son?
Oh, what did you see, my darling young one?
I saw a newborn baby with wild wolves all around it
I saw a highway of diamonds with nobody on it
I saw a black branch with blood that kept drippin'
I saw a room full of men with their hammers a-bleedin'
I saw a white ladder all covered with water
I saw ten thousand talkers whose tongues were all broken
I saw guns and sharp swords in the hands of young children
And it's a hard, and it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard
And it's a hard rain's a-gonna fall

And what did you hear, my blue-eyed son?
And what did you hear, my darling young one?
I heard the sound of a thunder, it roared out a warnin'
Heard the roar of a wave that could drown the whole world
I heard one hundred drummers whose hands were a-blazin'
I heard ten thousand whisperin' and nobody listenin'
Heard one person starve, I heard many people laughin'
Heard the song of a poet who died in the gutter
Heard the sound of a clown who cried in the alley
And it's a hard, and it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard
And it's a hard rain's a-gonna fall

Oh, who did you meet, my blue-eyed son?
Who did you meet, my darling young one?
I met a young child beside a dead pony
I met a white man who walked a black dog
I met a young woman whose body was burning
I met a young girl, she gave me a rainbow
I met one man who was wounded in love
I met another man who was wounded in hatred
And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard
It's a hard rain's a-gonna fall

And what'll you do now, my blue-eyed son?
And what'll you do now, my darling young one?
I'm a-goin' back out 'fore the rain starts a-fallin'
I'll head for the depths of the deepest black forest
Where the people are many and their hands are all empty
Where the pellets of poison are flooding their waters
And the home in the valley meets the damp dirty prison
And the executioner's face is always well-hidden
And the hunger is ugly, where souls are forgotten
Where black is the color and none is the number
And I'll tell it and think it and speak it and breathe it
And reflect from the mountain so all souls can see it
Then I'll stand on the ocean until I start sinkin'
But I'll know my song well before I start singin'
And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard
It's a hard rain's a-gonna fall

John Prine. “Illegal Smile”

(lyrics)

When I woke up this morning, things were lookin’ bad
Seem like total silence was the only friend I had
Bowl of oatmeal tried to stare me down... and won
And it was twelve o'clock before I realized
That I was havin' no fun

But fortunately I have the key to escape reality
And you may see me tonight with an illegal smile
It don't cost very much, but it lasts a long while
Won't you please tell the man I didn't kill anyone
No I'm just tryin' to have me some fun

Last time I checked my bankroll,
It was gettin' thin
Sometimes it seems like the bottom
Is the only place I've been
I Chased a rainbow down a one-way street dead end
And all my friends turned out to be insurance salesmen

But fortunately I have the key to escape reality
And you may see me tonight with an illegal smile
It don't cost very much, but it lasts a long while
Won't you please tell the man I didn't kill anyone
No I'm just tryin' to have me some fun

Well, I sat down in my closet with all my overalls
Tryin' to get away
From all the ears inside my walls
I dreamed the police heard
Everything I thought... what then?
Well I went to court
And the judge's name was Hoffman

Ah but fortunately I have the key to escape reality
And you may see me tonight with an illegal smile...
It don't cost very much, but it lasts a long while
Won't you please tell the man I didn't kill anyone
No I'm just tryin' to have me some fun
Well done, hot dog bun, my sister's a nun

Speaker Pelosi's Facebook Page Swarms With Parscale's Paid Trolls.

I've been at this for at least two years, and Democratic poster support is lessening under Democratic leaders' threads, particularly on Pelosi's page. You're welcome to speculate why, but that's beside the point, imo. I'm just tired of seeing 9 out of every 10 posts as trolls, harassers and dumbass meme insults in recent months.

If we feel as if there's not a lot we can do while staying home, I say this is one good standup thing we can do.

I'm calling on any Facebook account holders here to help Speaker Pelosi out.

Please.

Don't post negativity about helping her here.
Don't tell everyone here that you're not on Facebook or are too whatever to be on Facebook. Don't bother posting about freedom of speech.

The point of this post is to help Speaker Pelosi.

Here's what troll farms look like in the U.S. Any other info about them is most welcome.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rantic

Here's a sample from Pelosi's FB page full of paid hater trolls:

https://www.facebook.com/NancyPelosi/videos/149001446456378/

If you go to her page, do not engage trolls' content. It is no content. It's a swarm of unlinked lies, dumbass memes, soundbites right out of Parscale’s playbook.

There are a few things you can do.

One is to call them out. Sample:

Look at all the Brad Parscale paid trolls here, swarming with unlinked lies, dumbass memes, soundbites right out of Parscale’s playbook.

They’re nothing but fakeass photos on walls.

Hey, troll-y doods!

While you thread shit for Brad, Jacob, Jerry, Juice, Alexander, Kamaruzaman and Simon Z BOT, do you kiss Parscale’s and Trump’s ass much? Rantic much?

McClatchy, New York Times, Forbes, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook all report posters like you, who are violators of their sites' terms of service.

So you come to where Republican troll swarms are welcome to abuse other political leaders’ accounts and threads — Zuckerberg’s honeypot.

Decent Facebook people report these fakeass account trolls anyway.

Here are other ways to stop anti-Democrat posters under any Democratic leader's posts:

When you click on a poster's comment name and find a blank thumbnail ...
-- open a second FB tab, type their name in the FB search box -- if it shows diacritical marks to pronounce their name, they're fake; so right click on their cover photo and Report them.
OR
-- look up their walls to check out if they're real. The same names as 'friends' will often show up together on targeted threads.
-- If their wall never shows political posts, they're paid trolls.
-- So, Right click the cover photo's Message box, then click Report. Follow cues to label them a "Fake Account." Or "Spam." Or "Harassment." If you click "Hate Speech" nothing will be done by FB monitors.

-- If their FB walls show nothing, or posts about bullshit that have nothing to do with the thread you're on,
-- Right click the cover photo's Message box, then click Report. Follow cues to label them a "Fake Account." Or "Spam." Or "Harassment." Click "Hate Speech" and nothing will be done by FB monitors.

FB is paying attention, this election year. So should we.

We know that ...

Daily, every single Democratic candidate gets hit by paid trolls and bots.
Daily, every single legal organization is getting hit by them, and
so are sponsored posts on every single Big Issue in America like race, homosexuality, abortion, you. name. it.

Google something about it. 3 billion posts of this bullshit energy-wasting activity were deleted by Facebook in the first quarter of 2019 alone.

I've seen that Biden's page is better handled by his campaign people, but it doesn't hurt to check anyway.

I'm not concerned about who here does or doesn't respond. It's just that, right now, any help Pelosi gets for her social media accounts is good, whether DU'ers say they help or not. If you see the merit of helping her on social media and want to try these things, I'm definitely grateful.

This is not about helping Facebook.

This is about helping our great Democrat in the People’s House.

We can't let the poisoner haters take over Democratic threads in social media if we can help it.

And we CAN help it.

Yes, we can.

Don't Let Trump Get Away With It

https://theslot.jezebel.com/dont-let-trump-get-away-with-it-1842424828?fbclid=IwAR3PeweW-x8U7vxVUqV8NSntRasc8uk8KOr0tGjI9BEddcSCEV7jX14wNAg

Despite his claims that the novel coronavirus was a hoax and fake news;
despite his insistence that covid-19 was just like the flu and would go away;
despite his refusal to accept any responsibility for the subsequent spread of coronavirus throughout the United States;

despite his kneecapping of the federal government’s ability to respond and his refusal to throw the full weight of the government behind efforts to keep people safe;
despite the failure to procure tests even as he knew what was coming;
despite the growing number of deaths; despite the hospitals that are already overwhelmed;

despite the desperate pleas from medical staff for basic supplies; despite his predictable turn to overt racism; and
despite his increasing willingness to sacrifice hundreds of thousands of Americans to appease the stock market, the only god he recognizes other than himself, it’s becoming clear that Donald Trump is probably getting away with this.

Escaping accountability, after all, has been Trump’s greatest trick during his time in office, one which now has consequences at a scale almost incomprehensible to the human mind.

Every problem is a public relations problem to Trump, a man who views his actions solely through the lens of approval ratings and his re-election chances.

And through his daily briefings and his tweets, he has been attempting to rewrite recent history in real-time through his bully pulpit, hoping that a sustained PR campaign in which he continues to spew a wealth of lies and misinformation will make people forget his massive incompetence and see him, as improbably as it seems, as a man capable of rising to the moment.

Allman Brothers. “Revival.”

Michael Jackson. “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’” remix

(lyrics)
I took my baby to the doctor
With a fever, but nothing he found
By the time this hit the street
They said she had a breakdown
Someone's always tryin' to start my baby cryin'
Talkin', squealin', lyin'
Sayin' you just wanna be startin' somethin’

(chorus)

You love to pretend that you're good
When you're always up to no good
You really can't make him hate her
So your tongue became a razor
Someone's always tryin' to keep my baby cryin'
Treacherous, cunnin', declinin'
You got my baby cryin’

(chorus)

You're a vegetable, you're a vegetable
Still they hate you, you're a vegetable
You're just a buffet, you're a vegetable
They eat off of you, you're a vegetable

If you can't feed your baby (Yeah, yeah)
Then don't have a baby (Yeah, yeah)
And don't think maybe (Yeah, yeah)If you can't feed your baby (Yeah, yeah)You'll be always tryin'
To stop that child from cryin'
Hustlin', stealin', lyin'
Now baby's slowly dyin'

(chorus)

Lift your head up high
And scream out to the world
I know I am someone
And let the truth unfurl

No one can hurt you now
Because you know what's true
Yes, I believe in me
So you believe in you

Trump vs U.S. Governors -- Summary as of Mar 29 2020

WASHINGTON (AP) — After days of pleading from the nation’s governors, President Donald Trump took steps Friday to expand the federal government’s role in helping produce critically needed supplies to fight the coronavirus pandemic.

Yet the president rejected any criticism for the federal government’s response to a ballooning public health crisis that a month ago he predicted would be over by now.

“We have done a hell of a job,” Trump told reporters Friday, as he sent an ominous message to state and local leaders who have been urging the federal government to do more to save lives.

“If they don’t treat you right, I don’t call,” Trump said, shortly after telling reporters: “I want them to be appreciative.”

But after days of saying such a move was not needed, Trump on Friday signed an order aimed at compelling General Motors to prioritize the production of ventilators under the Defense Production Act.

Hours earlier, Trump had taken issue with the very idea that states would need an influx of the machines.

One month after predicting the U.S. was days away from being “close to zero” coronavirus cases, Trump in recent days had increasingly tried to shift the blame to state and local leaders as the spread tops more than 124,000 cases nationwide.

He lashed out at governors, continued to diminish the risk posed by the virus and insisted that the federal government was only a “backup” as he looked to avoid political costs from a pandemic ...

In a Thursday night interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, Trump declared that Washington Gov. Jay Inslee “should be doing more” and “shouldn’t be relying on the federal government.”

He dismissed New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s requests for additional ventilators to keep patients alive, saying, “I don’t believe you need 40,000 or 30,000” of the devices, which force air into the lungs of those too sick to breathe.

He was still weighing Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s request for a disaster declaration, saying, “We’ve had a big problem with the young, a woman governor from, you know who I’m talking about, from Michigan.”

“You know,” he added from the White House, “we don’t like to see the complaints.”

The administration’s mantra ... has long been that the fight against the virus must be “locally executed, state managed, and federally supported.”

But Trump appeared to show little empathy for the states’ predicament, with his emphasis skewed toward the “locally executed” portion of that trifecta.

At the same time, governors’ complaints about federal support have been mounting as state leaders grow more open to airing their frustrations, despite the perceived risks.

They had faulted Trump’s refusal to use the DPA to force companies to manufacture critical supplies and his insistence that it should be up to states to purchase things like masks and testing agents on the open market.

That has forced states to compete both against one another and the federal government, driving up prices, even as federal officials have pledged their help if states fail.

Michigan's governor, Gretchen Whitmer, in particular, has criticized the Trump administration’s response to the pandemic –- including on national cable TV shows — saying that the federal government should do more and that Michigan’s allotment of medical supplies from the national stockpile is meager.

"I’ve been uniquely singled out despite my voice not being the only one that observed that,” she said.

“I don’t go into personal attacks. I don’t have time for that,” Whitmer said. “I need partnership out of the federal government. We have to be all hands on deck here.”

New York Mayor Andrew Cuomo has also been on the forefront, some days criticizing the administration’s failure to act and at other times commending federal assistance.

But Cuomo has remained clear that the state, which is now the epicenter of the crisis, needs many more ventilators than it has at the ready.

“That’s what the data and the science said,” Cuomo said Friday as he defended his ask for additional ventilators and issued a new request to Washington for an additional 41,000 beds in temporary hospitals.

Trump has repeatedly referred to himself as a “wartime president” — and now Cuomo and others have called on the federal government to act like it’s a war.

“What is unclear to me is why the federal administration refuses to direct industries to manufacture critical PPE,” Oregon Gov. Kate Brown, a Democrat, said Wednesday, referring to personal protective equipment. “I’m not exaggerating when I say this outrageous lack of action will result in lost lives. Including those of our health care workers.”

Inslee, also a Democrat, tweeted: “We need a national mobilization of the industrial base in this country. That’s how we won WWII. To get that, we need a president to lead. Washingtonians’ lives depend on it.”

Even as Trump has publicly doubted the need for a massive increase in ventilators, the White House has been working behind the scenes to get more of them manufactured.

Disagreements burst into the open Friday when Trump lashed out at General Motors and its CEO on Twitter, alleging that the company promised to build thousands more breathing machines than it can deliver.

As usual with ‘this’ General Motors, things just never seem to work out,” Trump wrote, adding that the company promised 40,000 ventilators quickly but now says it will build only 6,000 in late April and at a high price. He said they should reopen a now-closed factory in Lordstown, Ohio — even though that factory has been sold...

Trump also authorized Defense Secretary Mark Esper to call up an unspecified number of federal reservists to help with the coronavirus response.

He said in a letter to Congress on Friday that he had authorized Esper to order units and individual members of the Selected Reserve, as well as certain Individual Ready Reserve members, to active duty.

They are separate from, and in addition to, National Guard members who have been mobilized by state governors.

The reserve call-up likely is intended to fill gaps in medical expertise as the military deploys field hospitals to cities hard hit by COVID-19 and provides other forms of medical support to state and local authorities.

Pence, meanwhile, skirted the question of whether responsibility for the outbreak should be borne by the state or federal government in an interview with CNBC.

The dicktater of this gutted government lashes out first at Democratic governors, then at GM. "Appreciative" is the example to be set by a real president, not an impeached psychopath.

Because of his vicious games, the confirmed U.S. coronareality is 124,123.
