Republicans Threaten Lawsuits Over TV Ads Linking Them To Donald Trump

Source: Huffington Post

WASHINGTON ― From the very beginning, Republican congressional candidates in moderate districts have been hesitant to embrace Donald Trump. Now, two weeks before Election Day, some of those Republicans are threatening to sue TV stations for running ads that link them to the GOP presidential nominee.

Five candidates ― Reps. Bob Dold (R-Ill.), Mike Coffman (R-Colo.), David Jolly (R-Fla.), John Katko (R-N.Y.) and Brian Fitzpatrick, a Pennsylvania Republican running for an open seat that’s currently occupied by his brother ― contend that certain commercials paid for by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee provide false or misleading information by linking them to Trump.

-snip-

Dold demanded the removal of an ad that claimed he was privately raising money to defeat Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. The DCCC was referencing an event Dold headlined called “Beat Hillary at the Distillery.” Dold says the money only went to local candidates.

Fitzpatrick has also had his lawyer draft a cease and desist letter, taking issue with an ad that says the candidate “supports Donald Trump and his dangerous agenda for women.” While Fitzpatrick doesn’t refute claims that he wants to defund Planned Parenthood, his lawyer said that branding him as a Trump supporter threatens “substantial and immediate harm to the campaign and Mr. Fitzpatrick’s personal reputation.”

Trumpian tactics - suppression of free political speech. If every candidate can suppress his
opponent's ads because they cause harm - true or not - free speech goes out the window.

Hope the courts see through this one.

Luntz: Some Trump Voters Won't Vote Republican Down Ballot To Send Message To Establishment

Source: Real Clear Politics

LUNTZ: Well, I have been to 26 states now. I will probably make it to 30 before the election is over. And it means that there is no coming together.

And I think it’s going to be very challenging for the GOP, because you have got some Trump voters who are unwilling to vote for a Republican for Senate or Congress as a way to send a message to the establishment, and you have got some independents who want to vote Republican for the Senate and the House, but won’t because they’re too connected to Donald Trump.

With only 17 days to go, I have not seen an election like this, where there is so much intraparty battles going on at a time when the Republicans should be focused on the Democrats and prosecuting the case against their leadership.

Opportunity here, folks: Can you take to the newsgroups, Twitters, Social Media,
message boards to encourage your 'fellow' Republicans to send a message of
disapproval to the GOP establishment by not voting??

It's an opp that doesn't come along very often, we should seize it

Nancy Pelosi Rips Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell For Cowardice Over Trump

Source: Huffington Post

WASHINGTON ― The failure of Republican leaders to denounce Donald Trump’s refusal to abide by a potential electoral loss is worsening the damage the GOP presidential nominee is already doing to America’s democratic system, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) charged Thursday.

-snip-

Yet, the two top-ranking Republicans in the United States ― Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and House Speaker Paul Ryan (Wis.) ― have been entirely quiet.

Neither office had anything to say to HuffPost’s repeated queries on the subject, although Ryan’s spokeswoman, AshLee Strong, pointed to what she said on Saturday: “Our democracy relies on confidence in election results, and the speaker is fully confident the states will carry out this election with integrity.”

-snip-

“Every Republican leader must immediately join Democrats in denouncing Trump’s utter contempt for our democracy,” Reid added. “At long last, it is time for Republican leaders to put their country ahead of their party.”

They're up to no good, the silence is deafening. We don't have a 45th
President until the transfer of power is complete in January. And Harry Reid has nailed it.
The GOP has stalled, obstructed, refused to do their jobs at various points
for 8 years. Trump is but the latest manifestation of that tactic, all
orchestrated for the GOP's partisan political objectives and gain.

It ain't finished until they are sent packing. Vote and GOTV!

My bet is they're going to try to mess with the Electoral College. If they can get
one judge to declare something void, can our understaffed Supreme Court
decide the issue? No. Lower rulings stand in that event.

We are so vulnerable.

We Democrats are not recognizing how RICH this is

Trump: We Should Do a Drug Test Before the Debate

PORTSMOUTH, New Hampshire --
Donald Trump said today a drug test should be performed on the two candidates before the third and final presidential debate, implying that his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton may be on drugs.

"I think we should take a drug test prior to the debate. I do," Trump said at a midday rally at a car dealership. "We should take a drug test prior -- 'cause I don't know what's going on with her. But at the beginning of her last debate, she was all pumped up at the beginning, and at the end it was like 'oh, take me down.' She could barely reach her car."

This comes in a slew of new personal attacks that Trump has unveiled against Clinton, including saying he wasn't "impressed" when she stood in front of him during the last debate.

http://6abc.com/news/trump-we-should-do-a-drug-test-before-the-debate/1556822/

________________________________________________

That's the entire article. But realize several things. Republicans
rammed drug testing into our lives with Reagan's War on Drugs.
A test with objective measures to root out drug abusers.

Now the Republicans are against science. Science is bad, it's bad
for kids, it's bad for the economy, in fact, Republicans say the
climate change doesn't exist.

Now Trump - the climate change denier - wants to use a scientific
test to, supposedly trap Hillary into something that only Trump thinks
is plausible, with a scientific test - a drug test.

The party of anti-science - the Republicans - the GOP - want
to test Hillary with a scientific test.

They are on the side of any issue that helps their incumbency or their
pocketbook. Everything else can take a hike.

Cornered Trump Could Go Nuclear At Debate, Defies Calls To Quit Race Over Vulgar Video

Source: Huffington Post

Republican Donald Trump on Sunday struck a defiant tone in the face of calls for him to abandon the U.S. presidential race, attacking prominent Republicans and saying he had “tremendous support” despite a storm over his vulgar comments about women.

On a day in which Trump was due to debate Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton a month ahead of the Nov. 8 election, Trump took to social media to try to squelch any speculation that he could leave the race.

“Tremendous support (except for some Republican leadership”). Thank you,” Trump wrote on Twitter.

“So many self-righteous hypocrites. Watch their poll numbers - and elections - go down!” Trump tweeted, apparently referring to Republican lawmakers seeking re-election who have withdrawn their support for him over a 2005 video that emerged on Friday.

Trump Pleaded The Fifth 97 Times To Avoid Admitting To Adultery

In the summer of 1990, at the height of his bitter divorce from his first wife, Donald Trump was carrying on a very public extramarital affair with a former beauty queen, Marla Maples.

As part of the couple’s divorce proceedings, Ivana Trump’s lawyers asked him under oath about his dealings with other women and whether he had been faithful to his wife.

Instead of answering, Donald Trump invoked his Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination. Over the course of five depositions that summer, he was asked approximately 100 questions related to marital infidelity. He pleaded the Fifth on 97 of them.

“Donald preaches about his devotion to the Second Amendment, but it was the Fifth Amendment that was his favorite when he was deposed in the divorce with Ivana,” wrote biographer Wayne Barrett in his 1992 book, Trump: The Greatest Show on Earth. A New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement report later verified Barrett’s reporting on those depositions, which are still sealed.
