Coco coir soil mix for cannabis.

Coco coir soil mix for cannabis.
Peat moss can also be substituted for coco coir.

Assemble the items needed.

Container for plant, size you’re going to use.
Tarp or big bin for mixing soil. A big bin is best, mix needs to sit for a while.
1-2 cup pet food scoop.
1 quart plant sprayer
Face mask … perlite is very dusty.
Expanded coco coir
Perlite
Vermiculite
Worm Castings
Bone meal
Blood meal
Epsom Salts
Fat free powdered milk
Comfrey
Mycorrhizae

Never pack down anything…This mixture is done by proportions to the container, can be scaled up or down according to need. Use your container for measuring. This is for a full bag, there will be some leftover, store in a lightly covered container in a dark cool spot. Remember though the mix will compact slightly when watered.

Fill grow bag with coco coir to the top. Empty onto/ into tarp or bin. Fill grow bag half full with perlite, pour on top of coir, mix. This is an eyeball measure with perlite err on the generous side. We’re after super drainage.

Fill grow bag one quarter full with vermiculite use scoop notice approximately how many cups you’re putting in. Repeat with Worm Castings, with a value of N 1, try to stay as close to proportion this is for moisture retention and the start of fertilization. Pour onto coco mixture and mix again thoroughly.

Using the scoop add 1-2 cups of chopped dried comfrey. This is the main fertilizer. Russian Comfrey has a NPK value of N 1.80/ P 0.05/K 7.09.

Mix again thoroughly.

Using the scoop add 1/ 2 cup Bone Meal, light 1/2 cup blood meal almost a quarter cup. Bone meal adds calcium for root development. Blood meal is another nitrogen boost. This ingredient can be skipped if you want. Too much nitrogen isn’t good for seedlings. You can add later as a side dressing if needed.

Using scoop add 1/4 cup Epsom salts. Coco coir is very deficient in cal/mag, hopefully some was added during the coir expansion soak. If not sidedress as needed.

Add Mycorrhizae according to package directions. Sprinkle on approximately 4 oz. Powdered milk This is giving the calcium a jumpstart it will be absorbed quickly…the bone meal takes a little time to breakdown.
It’s also food for the mycorrhizae

Mix very thoroughly as you’re mixing, spray down mixture to start to wet, this will activate the ingredients. Mix and wet, again and again till you can make a clump of damp soil in your fist and it doesn’t crumble or drip any water.

Let this mixture sit lightly covered with towels for a couple weeks allowing the ingredients to get to know each other. One week before use fill grow bag, place in saucer and water till water runs out. Stop. Let sit, then stir lightly every day to distribute moisture evenly.

Test porosity…I like my 3 gallon bags to hold a solid half gallon of water…I can pour that amount of water in and get no draining…but if I bump that up to 3/4 gallon runoff starts. I know now, how much water the bag hold without roots. Watering amounts will be variable as growth occurs…but a baseline has been established.

This is the start of your living soil mix, it should be used over again, it only needs to be fortified between uses. Here’s how.

After harvest remove the main plant stem. I usually empty the bag into a big bin to work in. Break up a remove big chunks of the roots saving the soil. Don’t worry about getting all the roots out it’s a good mix into the soil they act like coco coir. I screen my soil through 1/4 inch hardware cloth. It breaks up the soil chunks and mixes the root stuff nicely. When that looks like I can run my fingers through it freely I start to add the boosters to the soil.

Adding boosters to the soil is super simple. It’s simply adding small amounts of everything on the list from Worm castings down the rest of the list. I usually throw in a little more perlite also … just because I love a really porous growing medium.

Guess who's larfing now?...Pure escapism.

LARF also known as popcorn buds. What to do with them? Smoke them sure…but you’re looking at some really nice juicy buds, why use the Light Airy Ripe Flowers? So over the course of a few grows I collected a bunch. I started vaping cannabis using a DynaVap and collected the AVB…Already Vaped Bud, it’s properly decarbed and I’ve used it in peanut butter sandwiches…works great.

So today I got busy.

Broke down the larf to barley size crumbs using finger grinding .

Then loaded into Mason Jars these were pint sized .

Then into the Instant Pot on high for 40 minutes. Shut off the ‘Keep Warm’ feature. Add a couple cups of water. At 40 minutes release pressure manually. Remove from pot, let cool. I fine grind it after cooling to a more uniform size. I have a 10 quart Pot and a large strainer basket In my other Instant Pot I can only fit one jar on a trivet.

It's time for another grow experiment...UPDATE.

As I mentioned in the original post February 1st was the target date for starting the grow. This is a 7 day update. One week from putting seeds in the ground to sprouts, I have never had beans go that fast. Two days from now they should have their first true leaves.

Taking wicked advantage of my eyesight one of the original seeds went missing somewhere in the soil. So 2 days ago I started another, that’s the little thing under the dome.

February 1st was the target date to begin but being captive to the weather I turned attention to the next grow cycle. This grow will be the culmination of several experiments with growing Autoflowers as inexpensively and organic as possible. The cultivation of cannabis is not legal in some states I do not advocate the breaking of local laws. That said, “Legalize Cannabis” for everyone!

I have grown cannabis in different mediums, Deep Water hydroponics, soil based on a peat moss mix, finally I chose a coco coir mix. The mixture in measured units includes coir, perlite, vermiculite, worm castings, bonemeal, blood meal, epsom salts, mycorrhiza and my home grown special ingredient Comfrey, mixed and let to ‘brew’ for a couple weeks. I reuse the soil each grow from the previous, regenerating the soil in between cycles. It’s basically a living soil. This soil mix for Autoflowers seems to be kick ass.
Even though it’s compost-like it has never seen the outside to keep it pest free.

Over the course of about 20 grow cycles in the last few years all with autos I’ve learned some things about them. The rootball is smaller than a photoperiod plant. That’s in water, 5 gallon bags, 7 gallon bags, no matter the room it has it’s always smaller than photo. The yields on those methods were all about the same from 90 to 120 grams per plant. I’m trying a 3 gallon grow bag for this cycle, we have great success with tomatoes in this size bag so what the heck. This size, stepping down from the 7 gallon size, saves on medium costs. Two 3’s for every one 7.
Also moving on from the ‘Burple’ led lights to a full spectrum led that shines white. It has adjustable levels for all cycles of growth.

Autoflower cannabis is on a limited time cycle with no light adjustment from the growers, the plants move from a vegetative state to flowering all on their own, it cannot be held in a vegetative state like the photoperiods will allow you to do. There are no ‘Mother’ plants, no clones each grow cycle must start from seed. Their life cycle is between 3-4 months. Being able to have 3 or 4 cycles per year instead of one or two as with photoperiods gives us more time to experiment. It also allows for small batch grows from artisanal breeders.

This grow I’m growing seeds from Twisted Tree Autoflowers a Michigan company. He has been breeding autoflowers for 10 years after a couple decades working on photoperiod. I have been waiting to work with this breeder for a while. While back they had a fire and lost everything. They asked us to please help and send back our unused seeds to help them get back up to speed. I just purchased and received an order from them, never had a chance to grow any, I sent them all back. They are now taking care of us and repaying our help, great people. One of the beans I planted is called ‘Out of The Ashes’ a volunteer that came up from the fire that they dusted with ‘Pure Michigan’ pollen and created a new auto. 3 others are some Autoflower seeds he’d had around from other projects. True mystery seeds!

It could be a Dandelion...it's not...

It’s an Acapulco Gold landrace. Very lightly LST’ed, feminized photoperiod. Seed was an exchange with my neighbor. Maybe I’ll try to grab some clones, haven’t done that in at least 10 years. Haven’t grown outside in probably twice that.

Any tips on cloning let me know. I do have some clone gel.

This plant is just a beautiful plant I don’t care what it is…I do but I’m just saying.

Took to the greenhouse like a champ.

Cannabis, coco and training...

Out of the greenhouse into the grow tent. This is the first coco coir cannabis grow. Last grow I experimented with a total organic grow using Comfrey and Worm Castings for fertilizing. The medium was one we used for all our grow bags for veggies. Blend of peat moss, humus, perlite, vermiculite. I went to coir because of the sustainability of the product and the increased aeration that it gives the medium.

When I started growing it was in a total water hydroponic system, bubbleponics, water aerated with air stones along with the fertilizers. Very time consuming but my rootballs were huge, in the last soil mix the roots looked as if they needed more room. I grow in 7 gallon grow bags.
Coco coir will allow the roots to spread without much resistance due to its aerating properties.

This training is the most disciplined I’ve ever been. I use ground staples to bend the plant and hold it close to the ground allowing the side branches to develop into better structures. Started when the plant reached its 4th node of growth I gently bent the plant down and held it there with the staples, tucked the shade leaves under the main stem giving better light to the side branches.

Absolutely no cutting of the plant is done at this stage. No topping, no fimming no defoliating.
Letting nature do its thing after I bent it slightly to my wants.

Here you can see the three staple holding the plant down.

This is Acapulco Gold Auto. Hopefully you can see the side branches making new “top” colas. Gotta tuck those shade leaves under.

This is Amnesia from the outside, you saw the main stem bent in the first pic. Bunches of “tops” coming in. Notice the main stem towards the middle of the bag, looks like a caterpillar coming out of the ground, furthest from the leaves is where she came from the ground.

All those lower branches now exposed will give bigger buds. They would have developed buds but little, light stuff.
Oh well, most growing is experimenting and a fair amount of gambling. Along with those two I have three Magic Melon’s in various ages of development not into training yet.

National security expert John Schindler: Trump should fear 'assassination' by Putin if he stops bein

https://www.rawstory.com/2018/08/national-security-expert-john-schindler-trump-fear-assassination-putin-stops-valuable/

National security expert John Schindler, a former NSA analyst, argued on Thursday that President Donald Trump should fear assassination by Russian President Vladimir Putin if he becomes no longer valuable to the Russian Federation.

In a column for the Observer, Schindler writes that Putin “can do worse” to Trump than the impeachment proceedings he might be facing after special counsel Robert Mueller closes his investigation into Russia’s attack on the U.S. election system.

“President Trump has more than mere kompromat to worry about here,” he says. “Under Vladimir Putin, Russian intelligence has embarked on a global assassination spree of a kind not seen in the Kremlin since Stalin’s time… [L]ess than three years ago, Putin’s operatives murdered in the heart of our nation’s capital, just a mile from the White House.”

“That message was hard to miss,” he adds. “Robert Mueller can open the door to Donald Trump’s impeachment and prosecution. Vladimir Putin can do worse and does not need to play by any legal rules.”

Trump's last 2 attempts to discuss foreign policy have been complete and utter disasters.

https://thinkprogress.org/trump-is-unable-to-discuss-foreign-policy-brexit-syria-c4b3e73fcea4/

During a news conference on Thursday ahead of his trip to Great Britain, President Trump was asked an extremely basic question about Brexit.

“You are going to the U.K. — what will be your message on Brexit?” a reporter asked him.

Trump was completely unprepared to respond in any substantial or coherent way. Instead, he began by defensively claiming he has “been reading a lot about Brexit over the last couple days.” But after a few seconds of stammering, he admitted, “I have no message. It is not for me to say.”

The president quickly pivoted to providing a free plug for his private club in ....

A day later, Trump held another news conference, this one in the U.K. alongside British Prime Minster Theresa May. Ahead of his upcoming summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump was asked “what your message will be to him on Syria?”

His answer at link. Astoundingly unprepared.
