Michigan cops legally rob ‘every belonging’ from medical marijuana patient

Medical marijuana user Ginnifer Hency told a group of Michigan lawmakers last week that a drug task force raided her home and kept ‘every belonging’ she owned — including her vibrator — even after a judge dismissed the charges against her.

Forbes contributor Jacob Sullum reported last week that Hency testified before the Michigan state House Judiciary Committee about what happened when her home in Smiths Creek was raided last July.

Hency explained that her neurologist had recommended medical marijuana to treat pain associated with multiple sclerosis. She is also registered in the state of Michigan as a caregiver for five other patients, giving her the ability to distribute medical marijuana.

Hency said that the six ounces in her locked backpack were in compliance with Michigan medical marijuana laws when a drug task force raided her home with four children present.

“They took everything, even though I was fully compliant with the Michigan medical marijuana laws,” she said. “They charged me with possession with intent to deliver, even though I’m allowed to posses and deliver.”

A St. Clair County judge dropped the charges against Hency, but for 10 months law enforcement officials have refused to give back her belongings.

Obama visits with grieving Biden

President Barack Obama visited with Vice President Joe Biden and his family on Sunday to offer personal condolences on the death of the vice president’s son, Beau.

The visit came as tributes poured in from across the political spectrum over the death of the younger Biden, a former Delaware attorney general, who died Saturday of brain cancer at the age of 46.

The statements largely focused on the commitment to family and country by both father and son. And some alluded to the past personal tragedies suffered by the vice president, who lost his first wife and daughter in a car accident in 1972, and has been known over the years since for his fierce devotion to his children.

“Life for them is family,” said Secretary of State John Kerry, who was close to the vice president during their decades in the Senate. He recounted the former Delaware senator’s pride when Beau, a major in the Delaware National Guard, chose to stay in Iraq instead of coming home to be appointed to his father’s Senate seat.

“Beau is just so good,” Kerry recalled Joe Biden saying. “He’s so good.”

Governor says Nebraska will move forward with 10 executions

Nebraska Republican Gov. Pete Ricketts says lawmakers' repeal of the death penalty won't stop his administration from proceeding with executions of 10 people already sentenced to death.

Ricketts said Friday that he doesn't plan to cancel a shipment of lethal injection drugs that the state bought earlier this month.

The GOP-controlled Legislature this week approved a law repealing the death penalty over the governor's veto. The law doesn't go into effect for three months.

Atty. Gen. Doug Peterson has raised questions about whether it unconstitutionally changes the sentences of current death row inmates to life in prison.

UEFA plot political war as Sepp Blatter wins FIFA presidential vote

SEPP BLATTER last night won his battle to remain as President of FIFA when Prince Ali Bin Hussain withdrew from the contest after losing the first round of voting.

However, it looks set to be a short-term success with UEFA already drawing up battle plans to wage political war on FIFA until Blatter falls on his sword.

The 133-73 win was not quite the two-thirds majority necessary to secure outright victory but the Jordanian prince decided to spare the 209 FIFA delegates an inevitable second straight-majority vote.

UEFA chief executive Michel Platini had already told Blatter to resign on the eve of the elections and followed it with a veiled threat after the result was announced.

Newly re-elected Fifa president Sepp Blatter has launched an astonishing attack on the US justice system and the British media in the wake of the string of bribery charges against senior officials that plunged world football into chaos last week.

As he denied being the unnamed high-ranking official who authorised the payment of a $10m bribe to disgraced former Fifa vice-president Jack Warner, as alleged in last week’s US indictment, Blatter targeted his enemies and warned: “I forgive but I don’t forget.”

Emboldened after being re-elected for a fifth term in office, he turned on his accusers and claimed that the timing of the raid by the Swiss police, who have been cooperating with a long-running FBI investigation, was designed to remove him from office and motivated by revenge.

Swiss police swooped on the Baur au Lac hotel in Zurich on Wednesday and arrested seven senior Fifa executives, including vice-presidents Jeffrey Webb and Eugenio Figueredo, prompting a renewed wave of furious calls for reform and for Blatter’s resignation.

His mother and younger sister, Naomi Christina Biden, were killed in an automobile accident in 1972, in which he and his brother Hunter were seriously injured. He and his brother encouraged his father to marry again,[2] and Jill Jacobs became Beau's stepmother in 1977. His half-sister Ashley was born in 1981.

Conservative broadcaster ‘whitesplains’ to caller the media has turned him into an ‘angry black man’

A black listener, calling into a conservative Christian radio show, received a condescending lecture from the white female host who told him that the media was to blame for turning him into an “angry black man.”

Sandy Rios, director of governmental affairs for the American Family Association and host of a daily radio program, began her program by defending comments made by Fox’s Sean Hannity, who said race relations in the U.S. have eroded under President Obama.

In audio captured by Right Wing Watch, a caller identifying himself as Charles took issue with the comments made by Rios and Hannity, pointing out increased violence against the black community, while drawing attention to the recent acquittal of a Cleveland cop in the 2012 shooting on an unarmed black couple.

“Unfortunately, sisters and brothers like yourselves and others just don’t get it as it pertains to basically to black America and the history of black America with regards to America,” Charles told Rios. “I get so discouraged when I hear you guys talk about the current situation with policing and black America.”

Rios interrupted Charles, telling him that she didn’t believe all the “facts” were in on the shooting that took place three years ago and had already gone to trial. She went on to say that he was being duped by “people who want to whip the black community into a frenzy by misrepresenting facts.”

“I know how this works. Maybe you don’t. But I tell you there are people that benefit from twisting the story ever so slightly to get you whipped into a rage,” Rios explained before adding, “Look, ABC doesn’t care about giving you the whole story, neither does CBS, because they want you to be an angry black man. Do you understand that?”
