In true Trumpian fashion, NRA Made Unreported Donations to a Charity Led by Wayne LaPierre's Wife

The National Rifle Association Foundation made at least $180,000 in undisclosed payments over four years to a nonprofit run by Susan LaPierre, the wife of NRA Chief Executive Wayne LaPierre, according to a report from The Trace and The New Yorker. The NRA is required by law to detail the recipients of its grants on annual tax filings, but between 2013 and 2017 the NRA left off payments to Christian organization Youth for Tomorrow, where Susan LaPierre has long served as a board member and until recently worked as its president. A spokesperson for the NRA told The Trace that the organization is “a proud supporter of Youth for Tomorrow” but reportedly did not address the failure to disclose the payments.

Seems time the IRS looked at that charity paperwork.

why do I think they used it for personal expenses just as they did the NRA donations?????

Here is Pelosi's full statement after Mueller's remarks today.

Pelosi Statement on Special Counsel Mueller’s Press Statement Reiterating the President’s Obstruction

May 29, 2019

San Francisco – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued this statement after Special Counsel Mueller made a press statement reiterating the extent of Russian efforts to disrupt our elections and that President Trump was not exonerated of obstructing the Trump-Russia investigation:

“It is with the greatest respect for Special Counsel Robert Mueller and the deepest disappointment in the Department of Justice holding the President above the law, that I thank Special Counsel Mueller for the work he and his team did to provide a record for future action both in the Congress and in the courts regarding the Trump Administration involvement in Russian interference and obstruction of the investigation.

“Special Counsel Mueller made clear that he did not exonerate the President when he stated, ‘If we had confidence that the President clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so.’ He stated that the decision not to indict stemmed directly from the Department of Justice’s policy that a sitting President cannot be indicted. Despite Department of Justice policy to the contrary, no one is above the law – not even the President.

“The Special Counsel’s report revealed that the President’s campaign welcomed Russian interference in the election, and laid out eleven instances of the President’s obstruction of the investigation. The Congress holds sacred its constitutional responsibility to investigate and hold the President accountable for his abuse of power.

“The Congress will continue to investigate and legislate to protect our elections and secure our democracy. The American people must have the truth. We call upon the Senate to pass H.R. 1, the For The People Act, to protect our election systems.

“We salute Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his team for his patriotic duty to seek the truth.”

Again, a reminder...Mueller is doing the job of "Special Counsel" IN the DOJ.
Unlike Ken Starr who was a Special Prosecuter who was not part of DOJ. Like it or not, it made a difference on how open they could be.

When Mueller is no longer an employee of DOJ, he will probably feel freer to openly give evidence, anf I am sure that Pelosi and others know that.

The fastest and easiet way to peel hardboiled eggs.

I tried a lot of tips, this is the only way that works easy and fast.
Plus, since I have a soft bandage covering the palm of one hand, this is really handy for limited hand use.

Hard boil your eggs, as usual, cool them down in ice water till they are comfortable to handle.
get a glass or a glass pint jar ( I use this, I like drinking out of them too)
smack the round bottom of the egg enough to crack it...like you would hit a soft boiled egg sharply a spoon to eat it.
Put the egg into the glass, cover the top against one palm, hold it sideways, and shake it vigorously back and forth.
You can do 2 eggs at a time if they fit with enough shaking room.
The idea is to have the eggs smacking against the glass.
In about 5 or 6 seconds the shell will start to come off.
You can peel it with a slipping motion after that, or, with more shaking, it will slip right off in the jar.

the eggs emerge quite intact.

This is why Mueller report was not more clear on thrump guilt

The difference between Ken Starr's impeachment investigation of Clinton and Mueller's investigation of of trump:

the Independent Counsel statute which Ken Starr was operating under was different than what Mueller was operating under.
Ken Starr was answerable to no one when he wrote his report;
Bob Mueller was answerable to Trump's appointees at the Justice Department.

Which is why Rosenstein's role as so important, and why it mattered that Rosenstein caved to Barr.

Opus Dei's Influence on the U.S. Judiciary

“Leonard Leo can take credit for installing four Supreme Court justices”- John Roberts, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh. As executive vice president of the Federalist Society, Leo has been the quiet architect of a pivotal shift to the right throughout the federal judiciary” including “dozens of lower court federal judges across the country.”

It was Leo who prepared Trump’s “list of judges and the people that he’s put on the bench.”

Leo is on the board of directors of Opus Dei’s Catholic Information Center located at 15th and K Street, two blocks from the White House. The Center is “a rallying point for ultra-conservative Catholics eager for a voice in the secular halls of government power” and “advances a hard-right political agenda,” according to Church and State, Americans United for Separation of Church and State’s magazine.

Other members of the Catholic Information Center’s Board of Directors include:

Pat Cipollone – Trump’s White House counsel, the president’s principal legal adviser. Cipollone is a partner in Stein Mitchell Cipollone Beato and Missner LLP.
Gerry Mitchell – another partner in Stein Mitchell Cipollone Beato and Missner. Their attorneys have “unparalleled expertise” in the federal courts and “before the Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice” according to the firm’s website.
Brian Svoboda – partner in Perkins Coie. The firm’s “Areas of Focus” include “Political Parties, Campaigns and Committees; Corporate Political Activity and Campaign Finance Compliance.” Its attorneys are admitted to the “Bar and Court” of the “District of Columbia, U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.”
Thomas Yannucci – partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP, Brett Kavanaugh’s former law firm. Yannuci “has acted as trial and appellate counsel” in suits involving “the DOJ, FDA, EPA, FTC, SEC, ITC, FEC, CIA, NLRB” and RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act).
Cindy Searcy – another vice president of the Federalist Society. The Federalist Society is a “hugely powerful, nationwide organization of conservative lawyers” instrumental in developing candidates for federal judicial roles.

Vitter among foreign agents paid to ease sanctions on Russian oligarch's firm

Foreign agents running a lobbying and influence operation to ease U.S. sanctions on companies tied to Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska were paid $543,958 over the past six months, according to newly released Foreign Agent Registration Act (FARA) disclosures made available through the Center for Responsive Politics’ Foreign Lobby Watch tool.

At the crux of the operation is former Sen. David Vitter (R-La.), who left the Senate in 2017 and quickly entered the revolving door. Despite a two-year “cooling off” period that restricts Senators from immediately lobbying their colleagues under the Lobbying Disclosure Act, Vitter is still able to lobby other key figures in the Trump administration.

In May 2018, Lord Gregory Barker of Battle, a member of the British House of Lords and chairman of En+ Group — a Russian energy company formerly controlled by Deripaska — inked a six-figure-per-month contract with Mercury Public Affairs to lobby for the removal of U.S. sanctions imposed for Deripaska’s role in Russian interference in the 2016 election. Barker has paid the firm more than $650,000 since May.

Vitter received 12 reported disbursements from Barker in June and July 2018, eight of which were for client meetings. In April, Vitter had several meetings with State Department and Treasury Department officials briefing them on Barker’s situation.
Among his activities, Vitter sent form letters to ambassadors from Australia, Germany, Jamaica and Sweden, urging them to press federal offices on behalf of the sanctioned company.

The lobbying firm, Mercury Public Affairs, has a lot of interesting Russia connections, some are outlined in the article.
