barring a really egregious action, I doubt that Sanders would run as a 3rd party candidate.
And a draft campaign for president has not worked yet, but then there has never before been such an admired, trustworthy, genuine and knowledgeable people's candidate as Bernie Sanders. He actually has a decent possibility of winning as a draftee and I doubt he would turn down such a win.

The most egregiously corrupt part of that whole convention was when the Chair created a "temporary" rule to make the results of all the delegate voting at the County Convention level in NV null and void because it didn't favor the chair's candidate.
That "temporary" rule is very reminiscent of the Bush v Gore SCOTUS decision in 4 ways:
1. The court, like the Chair above made the ruling to "elect" their candidate;
2. The two rulings were deemed "temporary" and not to be used in any other decision;
3. The corrupt decisions were openly displayed to the whole world in all their naked guile and
4. Both are unprecedented in the history of the US.
Unprecedented.
No other State Dem Party has ever declared the legitimately arrived at delegate counts of their 2nd tier convention to be null and void and to instead use the delegate count from the caucuses because it favored their candidate.
I like Obama's tradition. Hmmm... I thought Clinton was supposed to carry on his legacy?

Democratic National Committee, Obama for America Unveil New Initiative to Involve American People in the Democratic Platform Process
WASHINGTON, DC--Today the Democratic National Committee and Obama for America unveiled a bold new initiative to involve the American people in the development of the Democratic National Platform. This year, for the first time, voters will have the opportunity to take part in Platform Meetings in all 50 states to help shape the Democratic Platform. DNC Chairman Howard also announced that Governor Napolitano will chair the Platform Drafting Committee. Michael Yaki will serve as National Platform Director and Karen Kornbluh will be the Principal Author of the Platform.
Members of the public will be invited to host and attend Platform Meetings in their communities as an opportunity to exchange ideas and share perspectives on the challenges we face. To facilitate the process, the Obama campaign and the DNC will send policy experts and DNC Platform Committee members to as many meetings as possible to serve as facilitators. Each Platform Meeting will produce a written summary that will be reviewed and considered by the Platform Committee.
"From the beginning, we said we were going bring down the traditional walls of the Democratic Convention and make this event more accessible and include as many people as possible," said Democratic National Committee Chair Howard Dean. "This process will empower Americans in all 50 states to make their voices heard as they help write the document that embodies our Party's values and vision for the future. A National Hearing will take place August 1st in Cleveland, Ohio, where presentations will be made before the Platform Drafting Committee. The Committee will then meet separately August 2nd and 3rd to draft the Democratic Platform. The Platform Drafting Committee is responsible for preparing an initial draft of the Platform, which is used as a working document by the Platform Committee at its meeting.

The full Platform Committee will meet and recommend adoption of the platform August 9th in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Governor Deval Patrick of Massachusetts, former New Mexico Attorney General Patricia Madrid, and former Discovery Communications President and CEO Judith McHale serve as Chairs of the full Platform Committee. At the Platform Committee meeting, members discuss each plank of a draft platform. They have the opportunity to submit new proposed planks, or amendments to the draft. Proposals and amendments must be approved by a majority of the members present and voting.
Meetings of the Drafting Committee and full Committee are open to the public and press. Details will be announced at a later date.
Michael Yaki will serve as National Platform Director. A lawyer in private practice, Yaki is a former senior aide to Speaker Pelosi from 1989-1996 and worked on the 1992 Democratic Platform. He also served as a member of the Board of Supervisors in San Francisco, CA from 1996-2001 and has served as a Commissioner on the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights from 2005 to the present.
Karen Kornbluh will be the Principal Author of the Platform, while on leave from Senator Obama's Senate office where she serves as Policy Director. Previously, Kornbluh directed the New America Foundation's Work and Family Program, where she published articles in the Atlantic Monthly, New York Times and Washington Post calling for new policies to support families in the global economy. Kornbluh served as Deputy Chief of Staff at the US Treasury Department and Director of Legislative Affairs at the Federal Communications Commission.

Obama included ALL of America in the Democratic Platform development process for the 2008 Dem Convention. Clinton and DWS can't even include more than 3 people who aren't Clinton supporters. LOL...unity, schmunity.
So PAUL T. FARRELL, JR., a presidential candidate is supposedly pulling about 9% of the votes!
Weird. But touch screens are being used and they have been notorious for calibration errors that have tossed votes to a candidate whose name appeared on screen next to the one the voter actually wanted.
Anyone else find it bizarre that the *other*(?) vote in WV has remained steady at about 10%
in the Dem primary?
Republicans best chance of an acceptable president to them is to run an Independent.
Neither Trump nor Clinton is acceptable to them.
The reasons for running a third candidate are twofold:
1. The electoral college requirement that the president receive an absolute majority of electoral votes (270) makes it so that if a very strong third candidate is running, then all 3 candidates are likely to not receive 270 votes. In that case, the Republican controlled House of Representatives picks the President. They will pick the Republican-backed third candidate.
2. There is actually a decent chance in this climate that such a candidate could win the electoral votes outright, but only if a MASSIVE GOTV campaign was started immediately (this is where the Koch brothers make their first entrance), because the 3rd candidate will need overwhelming numbers of voters to win under those conditions. They will need to push absentee ballots, early voting and same day registration in every strongly controlled Republican state that currently allows them (Ironic since Repubs have tried to disenfranchise us Dem voters by stifling early voting and same day registration) in order to garner those kind of numbers. In only strongly held Republican controlled states that don't yet have those laws they will need to have the Republican State Legislators quickly enact them. They will need to appeal to Independents who are moderate conservatives to pull this off and that is where the Koch brothers money comes in again--with ads--and they need to be 3/4 negative ads against the other 2 candidates and 1/4 positive re the 3rd candidate.) They will need to get this going before the end of this month to make it work and they will need to convince every Republican they can to withdraw all financial, infrastructure, and physical support from the Republican convention that they can that is not already under contract-ads, businesses, moderate down-ticket candidates, media etc. Bring a dark curtain down on it.
That's the strategy to save their party and get an acceptable candidate in.
To the pledged delegates, superdelegates voting for Clinton against the popular vote of the state
really has been only a nebulous concept surrounded by academic arguments for and against, up to this point. Simply the presence of the superdelegates (even the name is bad optics) will not create unity. Rather the 'undemocraticness' of it now will be an unavoidable reality, as each state convention is held (remember Colorado), and its blatant, in-your-face, use is really going to anger the Bernie delegates.
Unfortunately, the Repub party in Idaho actually did force the state to register voters by party
in 2011. They filed suit and won:
