I'm used to the the NRA being 'too tough' to go up against on the DU. And whenever

I'd post something in the old gungeon, NRA types would show up and attack, no doubt warned by 'bots' that some gun discussion was taking place at the DU. And they'd always be some 'friendly' there to tell me that they were with me but there was no point in going up against the NRA, that they were too strong. I ignored them and pointed out the bullshit in their NRA positions and the ways they used to tools of psychopaths to fight....and at some point the NRA stopped attacking me. They stopped showing up to argue with me. Martinez has what it takes to move this gun discussion to another level. The House already is talking background checks for mental health and it has been only a week. Thank you for your warning but I'll follow my own heart on this.

He's puffing up russians with is talk of Russia is better than the decandent west. Then they'll

feel crossed and attacked when they are not respected for their sick narrative. Then they'll be ready to attack to puff up their egos some more to get back the 'self esteem'. Putin will have turned Russians into and bunch of Elliot Rodgers with a list of grievances and a desire for retribution because lgbt people will thrive in the west as barriers continue to come down and lgbt people will continue to exist in Russia, as they always have.

This whole VA scandal where executives

cooked the books on waiting times to protect promotion chances and bonuses is just another example of how compensating executives for efficiency and cost savings is sick in the USA. There are no morals that cannot be crossed in the pursuit up the executive ladder. IMHO Maybe the executive marketplace that is the Phoenex VA is something the GOP will not Benghaziise becaise it is essentially their philosophy that will be under investigation. They seem to want Shinseki gone right now, and that be the story, while Democrats want to wait for the detailed audits to be done.

That is it. They are going to go after Hillary Clinton as an alpha female. They

will start a hate on women who are successful and all their followers will parrot that men are being done in by successful women. Like real American men in the heartland really hate hate hate it when their wives get raises. "Dam, the little women was made manager &*%&%!$&%$&!!"

First of all, let’s consider the sample group. As the poll notes, “Question was asked of those who said there has been an increase between the rich and everyone else in the U.S. in the last 10 years.” We shouldn’t draw too many broad conclusions from these results, as Pew only polled individuals who agreed with the basic question. What’s so interesting here is what that self-sampling reveals about the mind of the tribal Republican: while many are willing to concede to inequality is a real and growing problem, they see the reasons for its existence entirely differently (as other recent poll results have borne out). The main responses that the American people provided for our growing inequality are actually fairly accurate, as long as one considers each of them as part of a larger tapestry [editor's note: This post initially stated that Pew provided potential answers, when in fact the question was open-ended]. But the final response, popular among Republicans, attributes our growing inequality to “work ethic of poor/gov’t assistance programs.” If this poll aims to help us parse the opinions of the American public, it is suspect at best — but as a piece of blatant political theater, created for the express purpose of painting Republicans as insane and unreasonable, it’s quite brilliant.

Consider the strategy: You take a topic like income inequality, which is already a part of our tribal political debate, and then provide a predictable subset of extreme Republicans with an easy, pre-coded answer (“work ethic,” “government assistance”). Letting people blame income inequality on the poor for not pulling themselves up by their bootstraps well enough is just too easy; it gives these mouth-breathers a venue to express their tribal rage.

This is not to excuse Republican leadership, who are largely to blame for putting their party in this trap. For decades, they’ve encouraged and supported the worst voices in their movement. The Southern strategy, which aimed to exploit white Southerners’ disdain for the Civil Rights Act and all it seemed to represent, quickly became the original sin of modern conservatism.

The Southern strategy essentially codified a tribal paranoia into right-wing politics; for decades, Republican politicians cynically exploited this advantage against Democrats, starting with the Civil Rights Act, up to Willie Horton, and on to gay rights in our own era. But times (and demographics) are a’changin’, and the bigotry and implicit racism that is still so prevalent among the right’s base is quickly becoming a political liability, an ugly feature of their politics that they can neither contain nor destroy.
