CaliforniaPeggy's JournalBeautiful pictures and a Winter Contest in Photography Group!
Hey guys! There is a seasonal Photo Contest over in the Photo group. The theme is Winter of course, so if you have a fun foto of a winter scene come join the rest of us and share it. It's not about winning it's about sharing things you've seen that made you smile. Yeah there is voting but that's just an excuse to show the rest of us something you've seen. Cell phones make great pictures and have won past contests. No fancy Photo Shop required.
Come see what's there right now and if you need help posting a picture check out the Help here: https://www.democraticunderground.com/103659987

My moon photo from last night is on EarthSky's website! The link is below:

I thought I was clouded out . . . turns out I wasn't!
Here's my photo:
Straight out of the camera without any post-processing. I did crop a bit.
Enjoy, dear friends!
I am celebrating my 149,000 post!
This hammer was a gift from the good people who built a new roof on our home, last year, right before the rains started in earnest.
Being a member of DU and of the Photo Group has brought me new friends, new knowledge and hours of fun and adventure. This post also celebrates all of you, because you've helped me achieve so much.
Many, many thanks!

***I AM NOW GOING TO LOCK THIS THREAD. WE HAVE 20 WONDERFUL PHOTOS!***
These four photos are experimental. I took them at the El Segundo Farmer's Market today.
I decided to use my big lens, the 100--400mm. It's heavy and I need to play more with it. These are the four best ones. Most were taken between 100 and 150mm. And of course, I was standing some distance away.
Hope you enjoy!
Today, I remember my dear friend Andy.
He would have been 76 today. I miss him.
We hadn't known each other very long--our friendship first bloomed in 2020, in the Photo Group.
He was newly divorced, depressed and an incredibly good photographer. We hit it off right away!
His illness and death caught me by surprise; nobody close to him had any idea how sick he was. I couldn't figure it out. His ex-wife filled me in in the aftermath of his death. Of course, she knew him and his family history much better than I did.
Talking to her was a comfort. She and I had a lot in common and it brought us together to mourn, and to remember.
I've pretty much gotten used to the fact that he's gone, although the pain still strikes--just not as often or as hard. I try to focus on the really good times we had. It helps.
Writing about him today helps so much. Thank goodness for the Bereavement Group. This is a safe place for me.
Fair seas and following winds, dear Andy . . .
