Breaking: Hours after SC Supreme Court hears arguments in case to expand absentee voting, law passed

BREAKING: Hours after the South Carolina Supreme Court hears arguments in our case to expand absentee voting, the legislature passes law to expand absentee voting.

COLUMBIA — All South Carolina voters will be able to request a mail-in absentee ballot for the upcoming June 9 primaries due to the coronavirus pandemic after state lawmakers approved a short-term bill Tuesday that added the ongoing state of emergency as a legal justification.

The unexpected move came just hours after a state Supreme Court hearing over the same issue, as South Carolina Democrats argued that the state’s limited absentee voting law would force many voters to risk their health in order to vote next month.

Shanghai Disneyland has reopened!

Live stream
http://twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1LyGBNdaLeMGN

Everyone is wearing a mask

And one thing of note: no one is overweight. I’ve been watching for 10 minutes and I haven’t seen one overweight person

Will be interesting to see what happens with case numbers around Shanghai by next weekend

EDIT: A man had his little girl on top of his shoulders and a couple photographers came in to take their picture. All of a sudden a throng of photographers came in and crowded all around to take pictures of them. What looked like management of the park came in and started separating all the photographers right away.

It's. Too. Soon.

So, I’m now sitting outside, enjoying a nice evening rain shower. Calming. Needed after waiting an hour for food from a local Italian place. Ended up getting a refund as, after 90 min since order was placed online, they hadn’t even started the order yet. Several others were getting refunds too. So we ended up with Arby’s for Mother’s Day dinner!

But the restaurant

It’s small. Maybe 8-10 tables. 6 were set up for reservations and I never saw fewer than 3 seated

Two other tables and some random chairs had been commandeered by people like me, waiting for a to-go order. I’d already waited 20min past estimated time in the van in the parking lot

Cashiers had masks but kept pulling them down or off. Some guests had masks but would pull them down to talk (wtf? You can talk thru a mask!)

Most waiting didn’t have masks. A very elderly group was in there dining and eventually left and they were not wearing masks

A pregnant woman came in to pick up an order. She looked to be about 8 months (why wasn’t hubby in there??). She had a mask but it was pulled down around her neck. She never had it over her face.

We’re fucked

Sweet Tomatoes will close permanently

https://www.fox35orlando.com/news/sweet-tomatoes-to-stay-closed-permanently-report-says.amp
ORLANDO, Fla. - Sweet Tomatoes will be keeping their door closed permanently after shutting down during the coronavirus pandemic, according to reports.

The buffet chain's parent company reportedly decided to close all 97 locations of Souplantation and Sweet Tomatoes, including those in Florida. CEO John Haywood confirmed to the San Diego Union-Tribune on Thursday, People reported.

The move will affect more than 4,000 employees who will essentially be laid off.

...

Haywood said the company has been losing about $1 million a week after shutting down in mid-March due to the global pandemic.

$1 million/wk seems like small tomatoes, er, potatoes

But. As I’ve said before re: possible other companies (esp those undeserving of a bailout), someone else will buy up the assets and reopen as something else

Remember when...

...one could easily list all the crimes and corruption of a Republican administration? And recall details of all those?

I can’t even begin to list everything the #TraitorTrump admin has done in less than one term. Much less remember all the details of even one of them

The Bush admin made it a little tough but I still remember most all the neocons that lied us into invading Iraq: Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowiz, Elliott Abrams, Doug Feith, Condi Rice, Stephen Hadley, Scooter Libby, Michael Ledeen, Larry Franklin, John Woo, Jay Bybee, David Addington and more.

Other foreign players involved: Curveball (the main source of the false WMD intel), Manucher Ghorbanifar (Iran-Contra player who worked w/Ledeen and Franklin to help cook up fake intel and possibly gave info on the 9/11 attacks in the infamous meeting in Rome)

All that still easily recalled more than 15 years later

As for this admin, geez, I’ve read both of Seth Abramson’s books (Proof of Collusion and Proof of Conspiracy). The footnotes of all the citations make up an entire book on their own!

Trump, Trump Jr, Kushner, Erik Prince, Michael Flynn, Steve Bannon, Roger Stone, Michael Caputo, Michael Cohen, Paul Manafort’s, Corey Lewandowski, George Papadopoulos, Carter Page, Felix Sater. Foreign players: Putin, Erdogan, Saudi’s MBS, Kislyak, Firtash, Deripaska, Agalarov, and the big one: Mogilevich.

But all the details are too numerous to get into. At a high level it’s money laundering via commercial and residential real estate, oil and gas investments, nuclear technology shared with Middle East nations, human and sex trafficking, foreign influence on US policies and elections, arms sales, sanctions or the removal of sanctions, trump org grifting and Emoluments Clause violations and much more

History classes in the future will need to spend entire semesters on just this admin alone
