There's a male in this household who...

Just doesn't want to be bothered. Yes, he's physically kinda lazy (but certainly not mentally).

Another factor is that any behavior that differs from the norm embarrasses him, whereas I don't mind even making an ass of myself for a good cause. So, who are the bigger conformists, men or women? I guess it depends on the person.

So sorry to hear...

about your separation. That a real bummer. 😟

Although I've never had the energy to write long personal notes for each card and never mailed more than 30-something, I still like the tradition. I'm sentimental.

Most people I now sent cards to live far and wide, even in the UK and China. We're all too busy to write much.

My thoughts on cards...
- theyre a friendly wave to say hi and say we still think about you. I thinks it makes people happy to know that they're being thought of.
- hubs and I like getting the family pics and news.
- we send to folks in their 80's and 1 90yo who never uses email.
- we are flattered to receive the cards.

Otherwise, this old atheist is a bit of a humbug on C'mas. Hubs and I never exchange Christmas gifts and except for our son, we buy very few gifts for family and friends. My tree for the last 5 yrs has been our tall old potted Norfolk pine with some tinsel roping thrown on it.

To each his own. I try not to knock the traditions of others.

These Dems do not seem to have a clue that they're being manipulated.

This has been about unconfirmed accusations without evidence of facts and circumstances. And it's definitely about prejudging. Al has asked for investigations but they deny him that.

Some of these accusations are out-right lies, others are half-truths. They should remember to beware of half truths and not believe the wrong half, as they're doing.

He'll try but not succeed at both.

1. He cannot directly fire Mueller but will have to go through his AG who said he will not do it. Fire the AG and find someone who will, as Nixon did? Mueller probably has contingency plans for this scenario. He knows TRump's psychology well by now.
And there's always NY state AG with whom Mueller is sharing info.

2. A couple of DoD/Pentagon folks have said they will not comply with a launch order if it comes down. Whew, that was a relief to hear.

According to a 2015 international survey data, reported by Keysar & Navarro-Rivera in the Oxford Handbook of Atheism, there are approximately 450-500 million non-believers in God worldwide, which amounts to about 7% of the global adult population.

According to the Pew Research Center, if that category is broadened to include all non-religious people in general — those unaffiliated adults who do not identify with any religion — we’re talking 1.1 billion people, which equals about 16.5% of the global adult population.

As such, “non-religious” is actually the 3rd largest group of thought on religion in the world, coming only behind Christianity (in first place) and Islam (in second).

Thus, there are more secular men and women on planet earth — many of whom are atheists and agnostics — than there are Hindus, Buddhists, Mormons, Sikhs, Jains, or Jews.

That said, numbers have little to do with reason and logic!

Anyone else dislike the use of the word "karma"?

There is no such thing as a cosmic-like karma. I differentiate between karma and experiencing the final results of one's actions. One is final consequences and the other woo-woo, imo.

Once had a so-called atheist tell me she "believes in karma."
By doing something good, even tho no one knew, she thought she'd be repaid in some way. I told her, "Yep, but only because it makes you feel good and that you, in some minute way, might reap the benefits of having the planet be a better place. It's not that there's some magically force keeping track that will enact some cosmic quid pro quo for good or bad behavior."

Folks, karma is when one has done good things, then suddenly wins the lottery or has some other good fortunate and then attributes that winning or good fortunate (or misfortunate) to karma.

If the word were used without any metaphysical connotation, then I could accept its use but most often that isn't the case at all. It's not a synonym for common cause and effect.
