I have something to get off my chest about appearances -

I buy cheap freshwater pearls to make jewelry with. Naturally, I spotted Hillary's pearl choker and earrings that she wears at debates. If I walked into a store that sells stuff like that, I'd have trouble getting a clerk to show them to me (that is, if a security guard didn't escort the tourist out the store first). Even imitation pearls that size would be over-the-top for any venues I normally attend (grocery store, blue jean church).

Those pearls would certainly replace my 30+ year old kitchen and baths with whatever I could dream up. They might even buy my house.

I don't think we're talking jealousy here, just questioning whether someone who has gone from a lot of money to tons of money so quickly has a snowball's chance in hell of understanding what it's like to sit down with a paycheck and stack of bills every two weeks. At that, at least I can pay all my bills -I have employed hard working relatives who can't.

I know we're not supposed to judge on appearances, But I'll take Bernie's J.C. Penney suit over those pearlsany day of theweek.

If my grand kids can get free college and my kids get a break on their

Federal loans and Donald Trump pays his share of taxes, then I don't give two cents if his kid(s) get free college, too. If Donald is paying his taxes, why shouldn't his kids benefit. Means testing is a stealth method of taking programs away from the middle class while ensuring there isn't enough funding to aid the poor.

Does the under-30 crowd have a different view of Bill Clinton's

activities with Monica Lewinsky? I keep seeing comments along the lines that he took advantage of an intern with very poor judgment, or that what he did amounted to sexual harassment.
This is not meant bring up any right wing talking points, but to suggest that those who were kids or not even born when he was President have a very different view of him than many of us who were there.

We know about the soda - pop divide, but is there a donut divide out there, too?

I think some areas prefer cake donuts while others prefer fried donuts. I think Buffalo is for fried donuts and the rest of NYS goes for cake donuts.

Interesting e-mail today"

" I’m Eric Kingson and I’m running for Congress. My friend Bob Fertik at Democrats.com thought you'd want to hear about my campaign to represent the hardworking men and women of Central New York. As a longtime Central New York resident and Social Security advocate, I know the changes that we in the 24th district, as well as other Americans, need: the ability to support a family on a living wage, a secure retirement, excellent schools, investments in job-creating infrastructure and a level playing field for all of us.

I’m running because our economy, and too often our political system, work for the rich and powerful, but not for everyday Americans like ourselves. I’m running to represent you in Washington because I believe that if you work hard and play by the rules, you deserve more out of life.

I’m running because too many politicians think slashing Social Security and Medicare is the only solution to everything when those of us who have worked hard for that security and when young and middle-aged workers who are facing a retirement income crisis should be receiving larger benefits! "

It could have been lifted verbatim from one of Sanders' speeches.

"Kathy I'm lost" I said though i knew she was sleeping

"I'm empty and aching and I don't know why...."

That's part of the lyrics from "America". It's not a feel-good "Sunrise in America" song at all, but rather captures the reasons some of us support Bernie. We've lost America, and we hope to find it again with Bernie.

About working with Congress to get things done -

back in 1993-1994 Hillary Clinton was given the lead in developing a reform of the healthcare system. She started out with the Republicans determined to oppose her, but also managed to lose the support of Congressional Democrats.

People are standing out in the cold in Buffalo to support Bernie

"Local supporters of Democratic Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders took to the streets of Buffalo’s Elmwood Village on Saturday afternoon. Close to 400 people of all ages are estimated to have shown up to hoist signs, hear local campaign leaders, and have their own voices heard."

Is there a non-debate debate scheduled for this week?

My memory is a sieve these days.

Am I being a grammar Nazi?

I have no problem with people using hopefully when they mean to say I/we hope that....

I'm glad to use them/they instead of he/him or he or she/him or her.
But

to me " less" is to be used for things measured in bulk - use less flour next time.

"Fewer" is for things that can be numbered - use fewer cups of flour next time.

More people were there last night, fewer people there tonight.

More confetti on the floor last night, less the night before.
