Audio of New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez (R) drunk dialing police

Everyone has that one co-worker or cousin who gets a little too tipsy at the holiday party, but Governor Martinez just took it to a whole new level.

When the staff of the El Dorado Hotel called Santa Fe police at 1:30 am last weekend to evict the partiers in room 465, the partier-in-chief called 9-1-1 herself demanding to know why they were coming.

“I am the governor of the state of New Mexic-oooo… I’m sitting in there with my sister, who is disabled, and about six other people eating pizzz-aa” Susana Martinez tells 911.

Call them off!” she tells the dispatcher. It’s one epic party and there is are six minutes of 911 calls of Susana Martinez explaining it all.

The full story and 911 audio are posted at the New Mexico Political Report.

Stop whatever you are doing and listen now.

Americans Are More Likely To Like Muslims If They Know One

I know several Muslims from Iran who are absolutely the most wonderful, down to earth, kind, gentle, smart, amazing people you will ever meet. They believe in science and evolution and are just all around well rounded folks. I really appreciate this article for pointing out what I have thought all along because of my personal experiences with Muslims.

Americans Are More Likely To Like Muslims If They Know One

By Mona Chalabi

Not long after the executions of Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha, Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha and Deah Barakat in their apartment in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, on Tuesday, Craig Hicks handed himself in to police. A statement by police Wednesday said that although officials weren’t ruling out the possibility of a crime motivated by hate, their initial investigations suggested a parking dispute as a motive. The victims’ families strongly disagree, claiming that the suspect, who had reportedly shared anti-religious views on his Facebook page, “hated them for how they looked and who they were.”

Those claims come from a wider context of American Islamophobia.

Muslims are the most disliked religious group in the United States. But negative sentiment toward Muslims isn’t equally felt among different races, ages or educational groups — and once we look at who is most likely to dislike Muslims, we also get some clues as to why.

Last June, Pew Research Center asked 3,217 people in the U.S. to fill out a “feeling thermometer” about religious groups — the largest and most recent survey of its kind. Respondents were asked to rate members of each religion from 0 to 100; a score of 0 indicated a cold, negative sentiment and 100 indicated warm, positive feelings. In the numbers below, I’ve excluded responses from members of the group that was being rated.

What if Trump was just trying to Punk the Republican party?

See link where a fellow goes into great detail:

I'm starting to think that Donald Trump's candidacy isn't real and he's actually shooting a secret Borat-esque reality TV show just to punk the Republican party. I bet the first creative meeting went something like this...

INT. EXECUTIVE CONFERENCE ROOM - DAY

A number of NETWORK TV EXECUTIVES sit around a large conference table listening to Donald Trump.

TRUMP: I have an idea for a new reality TV show and it's going to be 'UUUGE! It's going to be the best show ever done in the history of TV by anyone, anywhere. You ready for this?

The TV execs all wait with bated breath.

TRUMP: I'm gonna run for President.
NETWORK PRESIDENT: President of what?
TRUMP: The United States.

Everyone laughs, until they see Trump's dead serious.

TRUMP: Republicans keep saying they're looking for the next Ronald Reagan, but Reagan raised taxes 11 times, he granted amnesty to 3.2 million in1986, and he supported the Brady Bill. So I'm gonna run for President of the United States as a Republican as a joke just to prove they're not looking for the next Reagan because the party's been taken over by the right wing crazies. And I know crazy. I worked with Gary Busey for 11 episodes.

Nods and general enthusiasm fill the room.

NETWORK PRESIDENT: Tell us more.
TRUMP: So, in the opening episode, I'm gonna declare my candidacy in front of a group of average citizens that I've paid to be there. During my speech, I'm gonna call all Mexicans rapists and criminals.
NETWORK PRESIDENT: Let me stop you right there, Donald. That's too much too soon. You'll be out of the race before we even shoot the first 10 minutes of the pilot.
TRUMP: You're wrong. I'll go right to the top of the polls. Then I'll end the first episode by mocking a female candidate's looks--

You’re more likely to be fatally crushed by furniture than killed by a terrorist

It drives me nuts to read that people list Terrorism as the biggest threat to their safety. It's hardly a blip on the radar screen compared to most real threats like driving.

Snip> Consider, for instance, that since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Americans have been no more likely to die at the hands of terrorists than being crushed to death by unstable televisions and furniture. Meanwhile, in the time it has taken you to read until this point, at least one American has died from a heart attack. Within the hour, a fellow citizen will have died from skin cancer. Roughly five minutes after that, a military veteran will commit suicide. And by the time you turn the lights off to sleep this evening, somewhere around 100 Americans will have died throughout the day in vehicular accidents – the equivalent of “a plane full of people crashing, killing everyone on board, every single day.” Daniel Kahneman, professor emeritus at Princeton University, has observed that “[e]ven in countries that have been targets of intensive terror campaigns, such as Israel, the weekly number of casualties almost never [comes] close to the number of traffic deaths.”
