Chris Hayes secret meeting with MSNBC writers group re: union organizing.

http://www.salon.com/2013/12/12/exclusive_chris_hayes_attends_secret_nbc_union_meeting/

Amid workers alleging union-busting by an NBC Universal-owned company, MSNBC’s prime-time host Chris Hayes recently met privately with a group of them to hear their concerns, according to several people present at the meeting.

Hayes is one of five prime-time MSNBC hosts – along with Rachel Maddow, Al Sharpton, Lawrence O’Donnell and Ed Schultz – whose support the Writers Guild of America–East is seeking in an ugly labor struggle with Peacock Productions, which is owned by NBC Universal and has produced programming for MSNBC. A petition posted by the AFL-CIO and hosted by MoveOn.org Civic Action asks the five hosts to “Please meet with these workers and take a public stand to support their right to organize” at Peacock Productions. None of the five has so far publicly addressed the issue.

Hayes, Maddow, Sharpton and O’Donnell did not comment in response to Monday inquiries (sent to MSNBC or personal email addresses, to Sharpton’s National Action Network, and to Random House, which published Maddow’s book; Random House referred the inquiry to MSNBC).

But, asked about the campaign, Schultz emailed Salon, “Moveon.org has never been an ally of Ed Schultz, why should I help you with a story? Give me a reason.” A follow-up email was not answered. (The email came from a personal address provided to Salon by people who have been in touch with him there; following a series of inquiries, an MSNBC spokesperson said, “I can’t confirm that e-mail address,” but declined to dispute that it belonged to Schultz.)

Coffee Talk #2: Bill Clinton style Triangulation.

The current flap about whether Bill Clinton's remark "letting people keep their health insurance"
was good for 2014 candidates and thus Hillary because it provided "distance" between them and Obamacare..supposedly another genius Bill Clinton move...

I am not in the triangulation camp. I think it's time for our party to grow a pair when it comes to correcting or reworking Obamacare because at the end of the day 2014 candidates can take credit for the fix...as opposed to triangulation a GOP creation.

Coffee Talk: so, anyone besides me think that the "big dog" stepped on it by

suggesting that folks should be able to keep their insurance?

I thought that the code among former Presidents' when it came to criticism was omertà - silence.

If the President wants to change policy -or not - it is up to him. Everyone in a while Clinton makes me cringe.

For the past 40 years, I trusted 60 Minutes reporting and in-depth research.

No more.

I've added 60 Minutes to my "nah, don't want to waste my time" viewing list where it joins Morning Joe (because of sell-out Mika), Meet The Press, and other associated network blah blab blah GOP cheering sections.

Life is funny. I am now back to where I started, mostly reading and being highly selective when it comes to opinion TV.

I trust Chris Hayes, Rachel Maddow, Steve Kornacki, Melissa-Harris Perry because they provide attribution to their commentary.

I used to trust 60 Minutes.

Bye-bye

Christie is the new W. Bush do not mis-underestimate him for ONE minute.

"ha" we said when we learned Bush was running!

But voters thought he was an "Everyman" good to have a few beers with.

Then the election was so close - that the doofus slipped in and stole it right from under our noses while we bent over and took it...while we sat quietly home not believing what was happening.

Christie must be taken seriously, otherwise we will get fucked by the big guy while Mary Pat gleefully flashes her mouthful of teeth.

Remember where you heard it.

I just hung up from being blindsided by a Tea-Party loving "friend" - I'm speechless, shocked.

I feel like I was run over by a semi....I was woefully unprepared for the turn in the conversation that was waiting for me.

But it was her visceral hate that came spewing out like a raging thunderstorm that shook me.

I intellectually understand that there is a nuclear level of hate, but to come face to face (or ear to ear) with it shocked my heart and soul.

I cannot let her have the last word. I am compelled and driven to respond. I must do it for myself, for my ethics even if I know she will reject whatever I write.

I must respond to her bold-faced verbal attack leveled at the "government programs that allow dead-beats, cheats, and now forced health care insurance" ...

Wish me luck. Any words of wisdom you toss my way will be appreciated.

Down to the basics: They want to impeach our President.

Sweep away all the noise, the blah blah blah and at the bottom of the well you will find their dirty not-so-dark-secret is that "government default" is an impeachable offense.

This reads like an overwrought teen-age drama of souped up hot-rods playing chicken on a dark country road.
They are driving this country into default and do not plan on blinking......for one reason and one reason only...impeachment.
They are bound together like blood brothers having taken a death till we part oath. Eric Cantor has the reigns...John Boner has no balls...and Mitch McConnell didn't get his one term wish....but is driving the bus toward impeachment.

edit for typo

I am very upset and angry that the smart people didn't prepare for the Internet logjam

that signing up for health insurance would cause.

It is inexcusable because it gives the anti-Obamacare naysayers one more talking point..

The administration had 3 years to prepare for Oct. 1st - they had 3 years to figure out how to allow for huge numbers to sign up and didn't...

Oh brother.

I guess my rant is because I am depressed. Depressed because I am having a hard time processing how much hate there really is in this country.

I just feel like we need something big -one thing -any thing ...that can stand as good news.

The negative, pounding, organized, relentless GOP drumbeat against

Obamacare is blasting like a rocket into the stratosphere. They are desperate, strident and everywhere.

I watched David Frum on Bill Maher pound away at breakneck speed point after point why the American people hate it.....

The lack of push back whenever a Democratic surrogate is present is...stunning...allowed the GOP to seize the message when they could have said..."you lie." The GOP has gained traction in the polls..
