Culture of Christie.. Bully to da Max.. Compelling piece from kos, PS!

"They thought it was fine because of the culture that Christie has created, one of intimidation and bullying. Remember that bullying incident where he screamed at the school teacher? That wasn't caught by a rival campaign tracker. That was caught on camera by a Christie staffer, and they put that stuff online. They're proud of that! So given that Christie once boasted that "for better or for worse, this staff will reflect my personal style of leadership and decision-making," it shouldn't be surprising that it reflected the worst of his personality. Or put another way, his staff didn't go rogue.

Now, his "I didn't know a thing" schtick, however implausible, at best paints him as a clueless dolt who can't handle his staff -- completely counter to the persona he's built over the last several years as a hands-on in-the-trenches roll-up-your-sleeves-and-get-it-done governor. You can't be blissfully unaware of what your top staff is doing and then claim you are deeply involved in the governing business.

But worse for him, the "bully" narrative is now set in stone. It was his greatest source of strength but now it's been neutered. I doubt his staff will be posting any other YouTubes of him being a dick to ordinary people. Good luck with that."

Christie can't be a bully anymore Bet he slips.

The Stranger on "Global Warming"..

Bill Moyers..

"So as is their seasonal wont, here come the climate skeptics. Exhibit A:

This very expensive GLOBAL WARMING bullshit has got to stop. Our planet is freezing, record low temps, and our GW scientists are stuck in ice

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 2, 2014"

And Trump isn’t the only one. A similar reaction came from Congressman John Fleming, a Louisiana Republican:

“Global warming” isn’t so warm these days. http://t.co/gOqr2RiuNJ

— John Fleming (@RepFleming) January 2, 2014

Rush Limbaugh also weighed in, noting that the Green Bay Packers may face San Francisco in subzero temperatures at home this weekend:

LIMBAUGH: I would love to see Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and Hillary sitting outside on the 50 yard line of Green Bay the whole game, and then afterwards do a presentation for us all on global warming. Sit there the whole game outside.

Bring It!

Edit.. had the wrong dude.

Second Edit..

"Perhaps the best analogy yet for the insane cold weather now afflicting the U.S. came from science blogger Greg Laden, who created the viral image above. “Go home, Arctic,” it reads. “You’re drunk.”

When it comes to the reason why the United States is currently experiencing life-threatening cold — with temperatures in the negative-20s in the upper Midwest, and wind chills much lower than that — that’s actually not so far from the truth. “It’s basically the jet stream on a drunken path going around the Northern Hemisphere,” explains Rutgers University climate scientist Jennifer Francis. In other words, we’re experiencing record-breaking cold temperatures because a wavy and elongated jet stream has allowed frigid Arctic air to travel much farther south than usual.

And according to Francis’ research — which has drawn increasing attention in the past few years — we’re seeing more of just this kind of jet stream behavior, thanks to the rapid warming of the Arctic."

To understand how it works, it first helps to think of the jet stream as a river of air that flows from west to east in the Northern Hemisphere, bringing with it much of our weather...

Why The Artic is Drunk Right Now..

Taking Office, de Blasio Vows to Fix Inequity

"In his inaugural address, Mayor de Blasio described social inequality as a “quiet crisis” on a par with the other urban cataclysms of New York’s last half-century, from fiscal collapse to crime waves to terrorist attacks, and insisted that income disparity was a struggle no less urgent to confront.

“We are called to put an end to economic and social inequalities that threaten to unravel the city we love,” he said to about 5,000 people at the ceremony, many beneath blankets on a numbingly cold day."

President Obama, family spend New Year's Eve snorkeling in Hawaii

KAILUA, Hawaii — President Obama has never been one for the New Year's Eve blowout — and Tuesday appeared to be no exception. The first family spent the last day of 2013 snorkeling with parrotfish and green sea turtles at Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve, slipping into the waters of the famed reef on a day it was blissfully closed to other tourists.

The president has shown himself to be a creature of habit during his low-key vacation here on Oahu; the Obamas have snorkeled in the same spot on a number of other winter retreats here. The heavily visited reef draws visitors from all over the world because of its colonies of more than 60 species of coral and its green sea turtle population, which currently stands somewhere between 40 and 60. (About 300 turtles have been caught, tagged and released over the last decade by researchers at the preserve.)

"The glimpse of the president by Oahu’s locals and visitors was brief: A few surfers stood on top of their van to wave, and several girls in neon bikinis greeted the president from the shoreline with the “shaka” sign, the island’s greeting for “hang loose.”
