President Barack Obama said Tuesday he has “no patience for countries that try to treat gays or lesbians or transgender persons in ways that intimidate them or are harmful to them.”

Speaking to “Tonight Show” host Jay Leno, the president was asked by the host about recent legislation in Russia that cracks down on gay rights.

“Do you think it will affect the Olympics?” Leno asked the President, whose own views on the subject have evolved in the course of his presidency. Russia is slated to host the Winter Olympics in 2014, in the city of Sochi.

Obama was adamant. “Every judgment should be made on the track, or in the swimming pool, or on the balance beam, and people’s sexual orientation shouldn’t have anything to do with it.”

He also noted Russia’s eagerness for a successful Olympic games, saying "I think they understand that for most of the countries that participate in the Olympics, we wouldn't tolerate gays and lesbians being treated differently.”

Furthermore, Greenwald continues to conflate legitimate whistleblowers with men who’ve leaked national security secrets, generally either to the press or to foreign governments. Based on the fact that the president signed the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act in 2012, he’s clearly used his authority as a means of encouraging government workers to come forward through proper channels and expose anyone who’s engaged in waste, fraud or abuse.

So, many people in Texas say "Thank you", President Obama and Senator Barbara Boxer, for having the courage to help and prevent another West, Texas disaster in the future. At the same time, many of us are very disappointed in the lack of action, "sitting on their hands" from our supposed leaders like Gov. Rick Perry, Senator John Cornyn, and Senator Ted Cruz. They are putting politics ahead of saving lives in Texas communities.

This is killer good.. in a Dallas paper!?

The Superman approach of riding with both arms outstretched is how most novices wash ashore. But if you're trying to actually ride the wave – to go across the wave and not just barrel straight ahead – you want to ride on your side. Extend one arm out in front – right arm to go right or left arm to go left – and press off that hand. Your body will roll over on its side, increasing your edge in the water and allowing you to cut across the wave better. Then, stretch your other arm behind you and press your palm towards the water as a means to control your arch – as with a surfboard, you want your body to have a little curve. And the more rigid you are, the faster you go. Fins definitely help, but it's nice to go natural. It's a more intimate way to be in the surf.
