"at least" 140 Republicans in the House will object to the DULY ELECTED AND CERTIFIED ELECTORS for the Biden/Harris ticket.
Well, that settles it, right? We all know that 1.) all Republicans in Congress have their waterfowl in sequence AND are scrupulously honest and, 2.) the GOP MINORITY has some secret way to OUTVOTE the Democratic MAJORITY.
So, Damn! I am scared witless! (Did I spell that right?)
Lately, I've been swearing each day that I could not possibly hate Trump any more than I do---
---only to prove that wrong the following day.
Why Trump's 20k+ lies damn sure ARE a big deal: lies are an absolute necessity for evil
and corruption to thrive.
Lies are the antithesis of truth and the eternal enemy of facts. People who cheat, steal, rape and murder seldom readily admit to their crimes; they lie. And, if necessary or even just convenient, some will lie about lying. And, if they lie well, they escape consequences and justice is denied. And, the "rewards" of lying do not go unnoticed.
Until recently, the front line of defense against lies was shame and the desire to avoid public condemnation. In days past, people with a reputation as "big fat liars" were shunned---on the playground and the business world. Today, we often elect these mendicants and send them money as tribute.
Trump once boasted that he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue in NYC and not lose any supporters. Before even beginning to discuss how his cultists would react to such a murder we must understand how Trump would "justify" it.
First, even in the face of countless witnesses to and videos of him saying that, he would simply lie to the TV cameras and say "That's fake news. I never said that!"
Next, in similar fashion he would deny shooting anyone. "That guy in all the videos just looks like me."
Then, he would say he did shoot the victim, but it was self defense: " The guy pointed a rifle at me. Some say he was ANTIFA!"
Eventually, he would "let it all hang out"---"Yeah, I shot the sonofabitch! He was a heavily armed deep state BLM operative brought in from China by Soros and other liberal socialists! SO WHAT?"
If the above seems far-fetched and downright silly, let me ask: are you really confident that there are not several million Trumpies who would enthusiastically believe each of those lies? You know---the idiots who believe Biden "stole" the election.
If we cannot restore a society where liars are shamed and shunned---where telling the truth even when it hurts is once again exalted as a virtue---we will perish as a nation of consequence.

Can't we say this? Can't we say out loud that every single Republican who objects to the
certified electors in the upcoming January 6th Joint Session of Congress is an unAmerican traitor taking part in an attempted coup?
Is there anything about that statement that is untrue?
These are not just "Deplorables"; they are "Despicables".
I have no idea why this bit of doggerel popped into my head today, but it did:

I tried to continue watching the Senate proceedings on C-SPAN after McConnell took the podium, but DAYUM! I clicked OFF.
I have a healthy heart, but I'm sure surging spikes in blood pressure plus acute nausea would not be good for me.
Imagine a group of 12 year old boys being invited to a "wild party". There will be beer, they
are told, and pre-rolled joints. The plans are to look at lots of porn, shoot BB guns at---whatever---, attack pedestrians and moon adults on the street. Can you picture that event?
If so, you have a good idea of what the news programs will be running on January 6th when the "Loud Boys" and assorted other incels accept Trump's invitation to attend his "wild" event in DC.
