Your OP was MAGNIFICENT! George II's point is spot-on, too. Ever since the 90s when America first met the Clintons - and Hillary ESPECIALLY, Holy Freakin' Cannoli! In my six decades I have NEVER seen a political couple treated as though they had such big and never-ending targets on their backs. Astounding disrespect. It's really kind of bewildering. I didn't understand it in 1992. And I still don't understand it in 2015. People were rough on Jimmy Carter, too. And they're pretty damn shitty to President Obama. But CRIMINY! I don't know what it is about the Clintons that draws such fire. It's just nonstop. For Pete's sake, they're OURS. They're Democrats. WE should be the last ones to throw stones and brickbats.
Especially when you consider (really, you have to consider) that every republi-CON regime we've had to suffer through produced so many more nightmares, so many more scandals, so many more misdeeds - and they all virtually got away scott free. With impunity. Never had to pay for any of it (except bush 1 didn't get a second term, at least). Look at reagan. bush 1. Hell, look at bush 2. Look at nixon! And compared to the aforementioned "unholy three," even nixon looks fairly redeemable by now. NEVER thought I'd say that - or believe it.
The GOP never fails to circle the wagons. Why don't WE ever do that?
Also, they seem to have brought amy holmes aboard to be a fairly frequent talking head.
CON girl. Used to be on CNN. A very aggressive, combative, obnoxious, and in-yer-face CON. And she's quite rude. Readily talks over people and interrupts and she won't shut up. WTF is she doing on MSNBC? She belongs on Pox Noise. But then again, she's probably not wanted there because she isn't blonde.
No kidding! Same here.
My rate of posting here is WAY down, too. Life's too short to deal with relentlessly acrimonious stuff like what is now epidemic here. Besides, I value my low blood pressure and I intend to keep it that low!
Got a lot of other things on my plate anyway.
Much love to you, DSB!
Welcome to DU, Messaging Matters! This is a great point you make.
Even in a best-case-scenario for EITHER Hillary or Bernie, there's the matter of the lovely Congress and the lovely Senate which would have to go along with whatever the President initiates. The House may be too gerrymandered to take back, but the Senate is possible. However, if mitch mcdonnell is still there, he'll probably launch another "Let's Make 'Em a One-Termer!" clown show and we would again see wall-to-wall obstruction, whether the bad guys were able to hang onto the Senate or not. Look how shitty it got as of 2010.
I really wish somebody would connect the dots on this one, with the voters. You say you hate how nothing gets done? You hate how Congress has become a complete ineffective, flaccid, impotent joke? Then WHY do you vote republi-CON? Cuz THAT is what you get when you vote republi-CON. WHY do you side with people who don't want the government to work - for you or for anybody else? WHY do you send the government-haters to Washington, then, and complain that nobody gets anything done? VOTE DEMOCRATIC in 2016. At least WE get things done. And btw, how do you like that health care you can finally afford? The GOP didn't give you that. The DEMS did. The GOP wants to take it AWAY from you!
"Unless Sanders spends more time explaining how his promises could possibly get enacted, and how his hoped-for "revolution" will take place, he runs the risk of raising many Democratic hopes, only to have them dashed in the near future." Um... anybody remember the "Son-of-a-Bitch-Used-Car-Salesman" thing?
Mine, too! Even though I'm a day late and a reliable computer short.
Thanks SCE! Great as usual!!!
Very good point.
Yes he can identify obvious problems, but I find myself tempted to call him a "Johnny One Note."
GRANTED - many of his declarations on the economy make some pretty good sense, but just boiling every problem down to economics simply doesn't cover it. I seriously doubt that the greatest job with the best pay and benefits and even job security would NOT help a Black mother whose precious teenage son came home to her in a box, thanks to police brutality or gun violence.
She just needs to get out there and slam 'em!
Hillary is a fighter, and I'm glad she's speaking up. Sometimes I find myself thinking she's been a little too quiet lately.
Make some NOISE, Hillary!!! Let's hear you ROAR!!!
Indeed. The struggle continues.
