Yeah, that's what I thought, too. We recently saw many stories about Freedomworks being almost

bankrupt. This sounds like one of those "the sky is falling!!!!" appeal for money. Because for them, financially, apparently the sky really is falling. Certainly hope so!

This message needs to be said, read, and SPREAD!!!!!!!

TERRIFIC points to make, because that stupid simplistic and entirely unrealistic argument that government budgets are no different from household budgets and should be managed the same way just does not fit reality. The dynamics are totally different. The nature of the beast is totally different. You can't run a government like a household any more than you can run government like a business. They're simply NOT the same in design OR function.

Oh please oh please oh please oh please oh please oh please oh please!!!!!!

I would love to see him sent to the unemployment line! sam brownBACKWARDS. GOD he's been a reactionary pustule! Wants to send women back to the second century BC.

Oh God, james watt. The bane of my existence, too!

He was utterly REPREHENSIBLE!!!! He and the holmes tuttles and justin darts and others in the so-called "kitchen cabinet" behind the scenes made my skin crawl. "Trees cause pollution." And then of course, with that shit allowed to fester - because NOBODY called them on it, really, you now get the michele bachmanns of the world who insist that carbon dioxide is GOOD for you! 'Cause it's natural! It occurs in NATURE!

Welcome to DU, Thucydides!

Good to have you with us! THANK YOU for being the leading edge to all of our survival as a nation. They always say - "our children are our future." I have GREAT hope for the Millennials. My two kids are among them. And they embrace full-on liberal thinking. We've talked about this a lot as they've grown up. They know. The girls certainly know what's at stake (at least from what my daughter and her friends tell me). Thank you - Thucydides and everyone in your demographic. You're gonna help pull us out of this mess. I apologize to my kids sometimes. I tell them how sorry I am that THIS is the kind of country we're leaving to them, and that at least some of us tried hard to change things and open things up, and open MINDS up, and we came up short. My daughter in her typical certitude will usually say something like - "don't worry Mom, we've got this.

Welcome to DU, Bearheim!

Glad you're here! Sure warms the cockles of my heart! Let's hope so! After all, California does owe the nation bigtime because the two-headed blight of ronald reagan and prop 13 came from here, too. And spread across the country like a radioactive wind. I hope to God this is true. It's certainly allowed for some good work to be done in Sacramento without the usual stubborn, selfish CON blockades in the way so much. It's about time the left gained momentum again at the state level. Easier to protect the White House that way.

Me, too. His family shares the same sense of "empathy" that he does.

I'm sure they'll be bereft. I certainly won't be!!! And as for Mary Cheney, I'd have hoped she'd have been the one person in that family that might help redeem them just a little, through gay activism and working for change. But I don't see that in her.

Shit - I still resent John Edwards for passing on that golden opportunity at the Vice Presidential debate, when the subject of cheney's daughter came up. He just tiptoed around it. He could have gotten in such a HUGE smack across the teeth!

Just imagine: the question comes up and they both turn into loving dads and that's that. But then, after John Edwards responded with that rather simplistic sympathetic comment, imagine if he would have said something like - "...and I just think it's a shame, Dick (or however he addressed the bastard), that a few weeks ago when you and mr. bush accepted the nomination of your party at the convention, on the last night, with the whole world watching, and all your families were up on stage in the spotlight with the band playing and the confetti and the wild cheers and applause and such a feel-good moment for everyone - maybe the FINEST night of your whole life - YOUR whole family could not be up on that stage. Your daughter and her partner were forced to stay out of sight, and could not be up on stage taking their rightful place ON that stage WITH the rest of your family and all of the bushes as well, celebrating in the spotlight together. As they should have been. But no. They had to be hidden away. Even on THAT night of ALL nights, you couldn't bring your own daughter whom you love, and her partner, up on stage with the rest of HER family to share in that moment - because she's gay. And that you somehow couldn't afford to look at all those judgmental, narrow-minded followers of yours and say 'NEVER MIND, YOU! She's MY DAUGHTER. And I LOVE HER. And she's got every right to come up here in front of EVERYBODY to be part of this and share it and if that bothers anybody's 'morality' then THAT'S TOO DAMN BAD!"

Can you imagine what a moment that would have been? I would have had a lot of respect for that. And John Edwards just let that exquisitely golden opportunity slip away. MAN he could have drawn serious blood with a retort like that.

NICE!!!

Sums up my feelings exactly. The damned will be double-damned when they see him moving in. He is unrepentant. Thinks he did great. Thinks he'll be vindicated by history. Thinks he did a great job - only didn't go far enough (since "poor" scooter libby was left without a pardon at the end - FUCK HIM TOO!). He is unrepentant. I'm not one to judge, but that's one reason I'd expect him to be headed Downstairs after he dies. I feel bad for the heart transplant donor. ... so THIS bastard could live.

That's why we're all likely to smell a whiff of sulfur at that moment.

I think it was Hugo Chavez who once made that characterization.

I think I'll light some sacred sage and do a little smudging ceremony of my own, to mark the occasion. We'll all need to be cleansed and purified after that human blight finally quits this earth.

October 24, 2013

I am, too. And I'd defer to the late great LBJ on that one. FUCK 'em.

Call 'em whatever. MAKE 'EM DENY IT.

But c'mon. How implausible is it, really? Why are we still trying to be nice?

It started with that joe wilson jerk during the freakin' State of the Union speech yelling "You lie!!!!" out loud. AT the President. DURING the speech. Hell, they can misrepresent whatever they want about what our side did or didn't do during the accursed bush/cheney years, but NOT ONE of us EVER did that. At least our side was always respectful of the office of President. We NEVER acted out like that, or anywhere near in the way these assholes do.

I say OUT WITH IT. I don't care of it was or wasn't pete sessions. Let's have it out there! I hope hell rains down on him ANYWAY. If it wasn't him, maybe the asshole who actually made that shitty statement will start feeling a little destabilization under foot, too. Well - ahem - MAYBE. Yeah, I know...

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years.
