Welcome to DU, Lordquinton. Um... four cats, one large dog, one extra-large goldfish.

And I personally do the animal maintenance about 99% of the time. Whether it's feeding the "peaceable kingdom" - as we call it around casa de calimary, or cleaning the goldfish tank, or the cat boxes (we need to keep at least two going all the time for all those kitties), or picking up after the dog and taking her out multiple times a day to do her thing (and yes, she's fairly needy, and I don't even care!), or dog park, walking, training, keeping all the supplies sufficiently stocked, or cleaning up the hairballs, I STILL don't regard that as being all that demanding.

They are ALL rescues from local shelters, and both my husband and I agree that we'd absolutely have more than just these if we had room and enough time. I also manage my son's band, btw, and the demands thereof COLOSSALLY outweigh anything any of the quadrupeds needs.

Want proof? I can offer plenty. As a matter of fact, I just did. If you choose not to believe me, that's your problem, not mine.

Man, I REALLY like this framing you're suggesting, duhneece!

That's how it should be worded and presented whenever ANYBODY starts talking about taking away OUR right as women to have the LAST WORD over what happens to OUR bodies. Not their bodies. Not men's bodies. Not even other women's bodies. OUR bodies.

"We decided to have a 'We Trust Women Commemoration of 40 anniversary of Roe v Wade' or something along those lines."

Okay, CONservatives - you think everybody in America should be on the "you're on your own" standard? Well, hereya go! Game ON.

Trusting women. Gee, what a concept.

Welcome to DU, Brainstormy!

Glad you're here! This seems to be typical - of the damn double-standard that reeks, seemingly EVERYWHERE. Something we ALL need to work toward ENDING from here onward.

Some examples:
Why is it okay when republi-CONS do it but not okay when Democrats do it?
Why is it okay when whites do it but not okay when Latinos and blacks do it?
Why is it okay when men do it but not okay when women do it?
Why is it okay when booze-drinkers do it but not okay when pot-smokers do it?
Why is it okay when Second Amendment militants do it but not when gun-control advocates do it?
Why is it okay when Pox Noise does it but not okay when MSNBC does it?
Why is it okay when teabaggers do it but not okay when Occupy does it?
Why is it okay when CONservatives do it but not okay when liberals do it?
Why is it okay when the red states do it but not okay when the blue states do it?
Why is it okay when Operation Rescue does it but not okay when PETA does it?
Why is it okay when the rich do it but not okay when the poor do it?
And I could go on... Hell, we ALL could!

I mean - we ARE - ALL OF US - created equal, are we not?

Well, I guess he believes in doing repeatedly that which he does best.

And the OP makes a very good point. This is the United States of America's Defense Department we're talking about. Not the Israeli Defense Department.

How anyone can be unkind to animals is beyond me.

Our animals feed our souls. They give us ongoing companionship, amusement, not many demands, and unconditional love. My only regret is that we can only handle four cats, one dog, and one overly-large goldfish. If I had room, I'd want to adopt a whole pound-full.

She's one of the best dots-connectors in the business.

She really follows the thread as it slowly unravels, she keeps track, and she remembers history.

The best part of them all is that she connects the dots, PERIOD. That SOMEBODY is doing it. That somebody intelligent is doing it. Somebody with perspective and understanding of cause-and-effect is doing it. Somebody who bothers to look beyond the talking points, and then pick them apart, source them out to their origination - and to who originated them.

It's always hugely educational and illuminating to watch the Maddow Show. You always come away a little bit smarter.

Welcome to DU, GatorOrange!

Glad you're here - and you beat me to it. When I saw that, it's the first thing I thought of. The boil on limbaugh's ass. Probably the same size, too...

Hey, ReRe - I REALLY like that "Foxed up" meme you just wrote there!

May we steal it? It's a good one!

And you're spot-on - this is the kind of progressive-response activism that's needed ACROSS THE COUNTRY. If all people see are the anti choicers or the anti-taxers or the teabagger crowd, that's all they know as far as any movement with momentum. Because they're only seeing a small sliver of it. These assholes are noisy and loutish and they're camera-hogs and mic-whores and that's all you see. They suck all the oxygen out of the room. They flood in and fill up the vacuum that's created by the absence of ANY presence on OUR side.

Well, IT'S PUSHBACK TIME!!! It's about time the public, the media, the voters - ALL start seeing OUR side represented out there. Because WE are the actual majority here. Anybody who still claims otherwise should study the results of the last election.

I'm VERY glad to see this. We need MORE of it!!!

Old enough to be a grandma (although I'm not one yet) and I HEARTILY approve!!!

This is what I'd say to people if I had a grandchild who's gay. Wouldn't make a bit of difference to me! It wouldn't have made any difference if one of my children was gay, either.

They're all to be LOVED.

PERIOD.

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
