The Republican Vision for Government

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]I looked to see if anyone else had posted this yet and didn't find it, so I trust this is not a duplication. I have had the same assessment for a long time, but this lays it all out better than I ever could.

[font color="black" face="Arial"]Government is one of mankind’s oldest institutions that, in the modern era, affects every human activity in important ways. America’s government is the means by which state policy is enforced according to laws voted on by the populace within the confines of the U.S. Constitution, and one of its primary functions is protecting the people. During the early 1980?s, Republicans made a conscious decision to oppose the current form of government in their drive to transform America’s constitutional republic into a plutocracy, and they have worked diligently to deliver control of the country’s policies to corporations and financial institutions.

A means of giving corporations and financial institutions power to govern is ceding control of the nation’s resources, and eliminating regulatory agencies tasked with enforcing policies that protect the people and guarantee the nation survives according to the Constitution. After thirty years, Republicans are blatantly campaigning for voters’ permission to give the wealth of the nation directly to the rich, and allow banks and corporations to dictate policies advanced by groups such as the Koch brothers, Heritage Foundation, and Willard Romney.

<snip>

The government Romney and Republicans propose is not business friendly, it is business-owned and operated, and the people are expendable assets. The American people depend on regulatory agencies to ensure the food supply, medicine, air travel, and workplace are safe, and their tax dollars support disaster relief, early warning systems, education, law enforcement and fire protection that Republicans pant to eliminate to fund more tax breaks. The GOP is well aware their plans for corporate- government are not a popular proposition among most Americans, and it is why Romney and Republicans support voter suppression tactics and ALEC’s voter ID laws to eliminate opposition to their corporatist agenda.

Alternatives to consider:

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]They are
(1) The Breast Cancer Site, and
(2) GoodSearch

For more than 10 years now, "click to donate" has been part of my morning while the caffeine kicks in and I like to think that over time that has added up to something of substance. The breast cancer donations go directly to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, not Susan G., and the 7 other worthy causes on the same site benefit from daily clicks, as well.

GoodSearch is a Yahoo-powered search engine that generates donations and allows you to choose which charity your donations go to. There are a whole slew of local and county Planned Parenthood organizations listed. The national organization, which sends money where it's most needed, is listed right at the top as "Planned Parenthood - Federation of America (New York)."

These are such little things and don't cost the individual anything, but multipled by millions of people participating, they can really make a difference. Both sites also have other ways to generate donations, from gift shops to shopping/dining.

Please consider using these easy, free methods to help support Planned Parenthood.

About silverweb

What do I snare in my web, you inquire? All sweet things to savor, to hold close and dear; Moonbeams and laughter and lovers' sighs, Sunbeams and daisies and children's smiles. The holes in my web allow the escape Of fears and hurts, jealousies, hate; All loneliness, prejudice, anger, and pain, These pass through, transformed, to the ether again.
