BS Disses Dems at Debate..

"I get a little bit tired of Democrats afraid of big ideas," Sanders began. "Republicans are not afraid of big ideas. They could give a trillion dollars in tax breaks to billionaires and profitable corporations."

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/democratic-debate-2019-live-updates-night-debates-underway/story?id=64629808

Has he read the DNC Platform and has he bothered to hear what the other 2020 Candidates are proposing!? Did he forget about the ACA that Passed! And, the Fascists have been trying for years to Delete from History?!

No one is "afraid", BS.. those are just your insulting words. So not impressed.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

I feel the need to add context. Tapper and Bash repeatedly set up Ryan, Bullock, and especially Delaney to attack Sanders and Warren with Republican talking points on topics like raising middle class taxes for healthcare and giving healthcare and free college to undocumented immigrants and the green new deal. Sanders was responding to those attacks from the "center" which were actually from the right. When he said "Democrats afraid of big ideas" he was referring to those individuals on stage. That was my impression.

Righteous indignation is typically a reactive emotion of anger over mistreatment, insult, or malice of another. It is akin to what is called the sense of injustice.

Tough questions that voters want answered? Is that how you would characterize what Jake Tapper was doing tonight? I would call it sensationalizing politics in order to make it sport and provoke candidates to make soundbites. Do you think most voters want to know if undocumented immigrants should get healthcare? Is that what is somehow central to that debate? Come on.

He said:

"I get a little bit tired of Democrats afraid of big ideas. Republicans are not afraid of big ideas."

He was talking about the parties.

Republicans are not afraid of big ideas."

So your argument is that BS only meant that some Democrats are afraid of big ideas, but because BS added "are" when he mentioned Republicans, he was actually saying that "not being afraid of big ideas" is an essential quality of Republicans?

Democrats, afraid of big ideas...
Democrats ARE afraid of big ideas...

mean different things... or they can depending on context. As I originally responded I felt the context in this case was that Bernie was responding to specific democrats on that stage.

Maybe he still shouldn't have said it. Whatever, I can't believe I spent an hour defending Bernie fucking Sanders... but I still feel like if I have to pick a candidate from that stage tonight he would be in my top 5 but that isn't saying much I suppose given the bottom half.

For example, how many times do people here complain about Congressional Democrats not going for impeachment? You know if the shoe was on the other foot Republicans would have gone to impeachment a long time ago.

Democrats are far more individualistic and independent ("herding cats&quot )and pragmatic so Bernie's lament is not going to ever happen. Without control of the House and Senate, nothing will happen with any progressive legislation.

green-oriented economy jobs.

If Hillary Clinton were president, that would be happening. It was a big important issue for her:

"When I launched my campaign for President in June 2015, I specifically mentioned Coal Country and the need to help distressed communities make the transition to a more sustainable economic future. It was a call I'd repeat in nearly every speech I gave, all over the country. I also got to work developing the detailed plan to invest $30 billion in revitalizing coal communities that I mentioned earlier. Consulting with national experts and local leaders, my team came up with great ideas for new incentives to attract jobs and industries to Apppalachia, improving infrastructure and broadband internet, training programs that would lead to real jobs instead of worthless certificates, and more support for schools and students. We also worked with the United Mine Workers of America union on steps to hold the coal companies accountable and guarantee health care and a secure retirement for miners and their families. ... In the end, Peabody Energy, one of the biggest coal companies, agreed to extend benefits for more than twelve thousand retired miners and their families. If I had won the election, I would have used the full power of the federal government to do even more."

Important point she makes: "Being part of a union is an important part of someone's personal identity. It helps shape the way you view the world and think about politics. When that's gone, it means a lot of people stop identifying primarily as workers -- and voting accordingly -- and start identifying and voting more as white, male, rural, or all of the above."

Makes my blood boil when Democrats are accused of ignoring the working class and hating unions. Talking points that help Republicans destroy America.

I agree with this analysis https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2019/07/31/dem-debate-gop-strategists-roundup-227491?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

Joe Biden won this debate. The candidates on stage really went after each other tonight and in ways that highlighted how extreme some of their views are. The moderates on stage, who have no chance of winning, spent their time highlighting how far left and unelectable Warren and Sanders are. They were doing Biden’s work for him and he didn’t even get his hands dirty.
