Today, the Foundation Beyond Belief (FBB) announced that they will be sponsoring the “Pathfinder’s Project.” The project is “a year-long volunteer journey, taking four humanist volunteers across the world to work in education, clean water, human rights and construction projects.

This will be a pilot program for the FBB. The group plans to expand Pathfinder’s into the Humanist Service Corps. This will be an atheist/humanist equivalent to the Peace Corps. To get the pilot program started, the FBB still needs to raise about $16,000. Today, they are launching an IndieGoGo page. Donators will receive special “perks” through that site.

The following is an interview I conducted with the Foundation Beyond Belief’s Development Director, Bridget Gaudette:

Will the pathfinders be “preaching” humanism?

“No ‘preaching.’ There will be no proselytization. Their actions, while openly identifying as humanists, will be all of the ‘preaching’ the locals will get. There will be no discussion of the Humanist Manifesto
