Been posting a bit there and yon, as is my big-mouth habit, and I wondered where do all these funny emoticons come from...err, you know, "smileys"? which a lot aren't! But are they part of the system? IF so, where? and thanks

(64 posts)Ah...It's the colon: smiley system...BUT where do I find the "assortment"?

The one at the end on the right should expand the page when you click on it to show buttons that will insert the pictured smilies. For even more click the [div style="display:inline-block; background-color:#e6e6e6; padding:2px; border:1px solid #999999; border-radius:4px;"] ... button at the end of that group.

(8,543 posts)... because it only shows up in IE and I rarely view DU in general, or any of my posts in particular, with IE. Plus I'm hiding signatures in FireFox (my default browser) so I rarely ever see, or think about, people's signatures - or my own for that matter. When I do see signatures, I end up seeing my normal signature in the non-IE browser I am more than likely to be using at the time (like Safari on an iPad).
IE10 is actually okay (it's definitely fast), but anything 8 or below was pretty ridiculous when it came to standards compliance. Now that Microsoft seems to have gotten with the program, perhaps I should no longer imply that people shouldn't use IE. Well, maybe I can still imply they shouldn't use older versions.....
