Can I just say how awesome

You women are. I'm so glad to have the chance to converse and debate with you online. I've learned a lot from this group. The only thing better would be if I could meet you in person.

Edit: You women and men are awesome. There are some men in this group and elsewhere on this site who are great allies for women's equality.

on everything, at least we're on the same page politically. Debating/conversing with Republican/conservative women in other forums is like talking to robots. They all say the same idiotic things.

Until I found this group, I thought I was the only one. I am surrounded by the Stepford mentality, irl. I am relieved when I find out that some of these people do not vote.

where you live? A red state? The suburbs?

I'm fortunately to live in a very blue, cool city: Minneapolis. I love my home town.

New England. I moved to the south over 20 years ago. At first it wasn't bad, I worked in a hospital where my co-workers were from other states as well. As I got involved with the kid's school activities, the other parents could be well- stepfordish, racists and/or willfully ignorant. But when I go back north to visit, all I hear are sirens and massive traffic. Here I feed the deer, sometimes against my will- they get into my garden. Still close to a decent sized city for when I need a culture fix.

I always say: if Devil ran as a republican and Jesus a democrat; the devil would win this state, hands down. Living here, I am a flaming liberal, which doesn't help matters. In the north, I would be considered in the center/left. Go figure.

I keep telling myself 8 years until the last kid is out of school, then time to find the retirement home. The school district won't matter.

but there are blue states where that's possible as well. If I had the money, I'd buy a place in or around Grand Marais and the Gunflint trail, on the North Shore of Lake Superior and near the Boundary Waters National Forest.

Woman, what in the Sam Hill are you talking about?

You're as valuable and welcome as anyone else here, and I love hearing what you have to say.
