Look at the picture of North Korean women soldiers. Their shoes, my God. I know Kim Jong un is a nut job, and I admit shoes aren't my first or even 30th concern here-certainly not why I was reading the article---but WTF?

(41,956 posts)I've seen how they march--its intense, and there's no way anyone could do a sustainable march in that kind of footwear. It kind of jumped out at me.

(111,124 posts)It's not working. Any woman who's ever tried to walk for any period of time in 4 inch heels is laughing at that picture.

(9,761 posts)Those heels are outrageous even if they are in a dress uniform rather than a battle ready type uniform.
Now, when female soldiers of the US are in dress uniform, they have the option of flat dress shoes, or dress shoes with a moderate two inch heel, neither of which are combat dress, but heels like those? Never in a million years.

(7,237 posts)I have seen some US Army women wearing some pumps with dress uniforms that were not very practical either. And I believe the US Army has a 3" limit on heel height.
I would be shocked if that is their regular service footwear. But then it's North Korea we are talking about, so all bets are off when it comes to rational decision making.

(6,036 posts)I am suspicious as the only image of NK Women soldiers with those shoes are of those 4 individuals at one location. As opposed to all the other images of NK Women with a lower heel.
