When a person has obviously had a traumatic experience in their life and say something you and many people would disagree with; would it be better to
A/ Realize that the person has been through a trauma and be compassionate towards them. In hope that the person will be able to move forward in coping with the trauma.
B/ Repeat what the person said to everyone you know and encourage them to throw stones at the person along with you.

(3,724 posts)I had to log out to do so, as I have the offending posters on Ignore. I am speechless at the level of callous disregard for the pain of others - it is stunning in it's cruelty. Stunning. And yet it stands. Unbelievable. What a shithole this website is. Complete and utter shit.

It was outright bullying.

(53,031 posts)Which I had no awareness of. I would have said that needs to explained better so everyone understands because I would never want to engage in such behavior.
But I think I understand now what you're referring to. Some people will always bully because they enjoy it. They are cruel, even sadistic. They don't care someone might have been through trauma. If fact, they may even get a perverse pleasure from causing further emotional pain. That is who they are.

Besides in general terms it is alway better to listen before responding in an outlandish way.
I admit, I don't always do that. I try.
