Stuff that makes me scratch my head...

Skinner to Vinny in ATA:

"I think it's pretty uncool to pick on someone when they cannot respond"

And when you realize that this "pretty uncool stuff" is built right into the whole website including the jury system:

If four of the six Jurors vote to hide the post:
•The post will be hidden from public view (logged-in members may opt to view hidden posts).
•The member who posted it will be blocked from making further replies in that discussion thread.
•The member who posted it will be blocked from starting a new thread in that forum or group for one hour.
•The member who posted it will have a link to the hidden post added to the Transparency page on their profile.
•If the post is an OP (Original Post -- the post which begins a thread), the thread will be locked.

Then think about the fact that Vinny's question was in ATA where his accusation could not be responded to. Is that cool??????

Contradiction much?

And regarding the lack of response given to Vinny about
"I appreciate the reply and I will try a bit harder to whack the hornet's nest!"

Well, I think that being left unanswered by Skinner said that us women here in HOF are a hornets nest and it's perfectly ok to whack us.

Sometimes things that are not said speak the loudest and that one just screamed for me. The only question I have is, was it intentionally left unchallenged or a mere oversight?

It was pretty disgraceful, especially so on a democratic website. However, I never realized it was mostly lesbians and their straight female allies. Yep, it tells me plenty more than what I had known and it's even more disgusting now that I have that additional info.

WTF?????????? What the fuck is going on with this kinda shit? That's what I'm thinking.

Thanks DURHAM.

There are a number of OP's I've dubbed 'lets fuck with the feminists'. Usually, I keep my participation minimal in those, unless I'm bored, or its the first or second thread and an interesting topic.

Certain posters apparently thrive on posting this kind of thing---typical creeper behavior.

(All that being said, I'm not sure this is the best place to discuss ATA)

from my point of view that post and it's answers was about feminists and as I pointed out there is no way I can respond to that post in ATA.

Maybe I should just shut up and sing?

The larger question is why are they even permitted here? If this were the yahoo boards, or reddit, I could understand. But this place claims to be a democratic haven, and for women it's not even close - so what the actual fuck is the problem with the management? They have the only authority concerning this, and they REFUSE to deal with it. Tells me all I need to know.

I don't want to educate them. I expect a modicum of sensibility on the topic of gender, on a liberal board, not 'girls gone wild' and pedophile defenders-- which is too weird for me.

Yeah, we are so not even anywhere close to that.

Where issues of sexism and misogyny are concerned we get the equivalent of trying to discuss an anti-war stance on a right wing board. Brazen dishonesty, word-twisting, childish taunts, etc.

Seems like it sometimes. Some of them have been around for a while though.

I remember one exceptionally weird pedo defender--- he lasted a looog time. I'm not sure if he was ever TS's, or dropped away, or is posting under a new name.

But this kind of mentality is so widespread... many people just agree with the men's rights posters without even knowing anything about that cesspit. That's the sad truth of it.

It is also sad how few people speak up when stuff like that is pointed out. Don't know if you remember, but I actually had people campaigning to have me banned for daring to say that MRA talking points were posted on DU.

and it is most assuredly NOT an oversight. Somebody mentioned gays and their women allies getting purged from here, I'm not sure exactly what that means, but I have no trouble believing that there was bigotry and misogyny involved.

And I don't blame seabeyond for not wanting to post any ouchie pictures, so I'll do it for her, because I don't care if I get deleted.
