Cruz Slams Fellow Republicans As ‘Squishes’ On Gun Control

PEMA LEVY 4:07 PM EDT, MONDAY APRIL 29, 2013

Freshman Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Friday slammed his fellow Republicans as "squishes" on gun control after his colleagues confronted him over his threat to filibuster any gun control legislation.

According to Cruz, who addressed a FreedomWorks' summit in Texas, the gun control issue "generated more heat internally in the Republican conference" than any recent issue. Republicans attacked Cruz, who along with Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Mike Lee (R-UT) pledged to filibuster new gun legislation, for putting them in a politically difficult situation.

“They said, ‘Listen, before you did this, the politics of it were great. The Dems were the bad guys, the Republicans were the good guys. Now we all look like a bunch of squishes,'" Cruz said. “’Well, there is an alternative. You could just not be a bunch of squishes,” he said.

Cruz predicted that the gun issue fight is not over and that Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) will make a second push to pass gun legislation.

His newsletter he voted this way because he did not want a national gun register. WHAT? This is one of the things this bill would prevent. Did he read this bill or what. By voting no he wants criminal, terrorists and mentally unstable people to have guns, he is a nut case.

Ted Cruz Admits Background Check Bill Doesn’t Seek To Create Gun Registry

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), who has been raising fears that expanding background checks would bring about a national gun registry, conceded Wednesday that the legislation doesn’t actually do that. But he warned that the bill would encourage future efforts to allow a registry.

Federal law prohibits the creation of a national gun registry. And the Manchin-Toomey background check legislation makes it a felony, punishable by a fine and 15 years in prison. TPM asked Cruz on Wednesday morning how the bill would lead to a registry.

So, he's right and he's crazy at the same time.

It's just that the Republicans are more likely to fall in line with the gun humpers and oppose anything Obama wants rather than legislate common sense gun safety measures.

I hate mean people.
I think talk of Texas going blue is premature when they elect people like Cruz and Gohmert.

He's even more intelligent than Cruz. The way he talks and puts together sentences is brilliant, and he's not nearly as in-your-face polarizing. Yet he's just as conservative.
