And not sure about Ms. Nunn's bona fides.
Dear God anyone but those two dweeb GOP 'doctors' Gingrey and Broun. Not a brain between'em. How did people like that graduate from med school?

Sam Nunn might have his supporters here, but my recollection from when I was paid to care about him was that Sam Nunn was a Southern Democrat all the way, wrapped in the Confederate flag, steeped in Nixon-Reagan foreign-policy-for-profit amorality, and otherwise indistinguishable from the Republican brethren Nunn would have joined if his constituents would only vote for the party that freed the slaves.

He had a few progressive positions, on subjects that were never effectively addressed or resolved, like immigration and affirmative action. In other words he was a Democrat where it didn't count and a hardcore Scoop Jackson asshole where it did.

Now, compare those circumstances to other important politicians who spawned evil offspring, like H.W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and Frank Murkowski, and the one thing that stands out is that the apple rarely falls far from the tree. Rather, the children try to emulate the parent's dated and malevolent political positions, and expand them, which has made them unusually regressive and, most unfortunately for all of us, also unusually successful.

It makes sense that Georgia would still be having a DINO fight, as it is only on the verge of exiting the 19th Century, politically. But I don't think the results are going to be universally positive no matter what happens. We probably shouldn't be hoping for anything more than the occasional party-line cloture vote from a Georgia Democrat in the Senate, should one be elected.

He's by no means a liberal Democrat but he is the only Southern white Congressman left.

I trust him.
