Reports that the suspects in the Boston bombing are believed to be from the region near Chechnya may have caught some by surprise -- rebels in Chechnya are known for their violent and long-running campaign to break away from Russia, but not for exporting terror to America.

But congressional researchers and foreign policy analysts have long tracked a connection between the Chechnya region and Islamic extremists with Al Qaeda and the Taliban. If the suspects are indeed Chechen, analysts told Fox News they may represent part of a jihadi network which has made its way to American soil.

"The Chechen jihadi network is very extensive," Middle East analyst Walid Phares said Friday. "They have a huge network inside Russia and Chechnya." ...

At least one of the brothers was in Russia last year. Hardly a stretch to assume he got training there with Islamists.

Anyone who can put a bomb next to a little 8 year old kid has been radicalized by something, enough to lose their humanity.

When I posted this, I hadn't seen the info about the older brother going over seas for a year.
I don't understand why folks on DU jump all over you instead of posting politely like you. A lot of hot heads on DU, I guess.

Without absolutely no evidence there was thread after thread of people convinced it was right wingers - one person actually posted they could "smell" it. Evidence since yesterday is all pointing towards a naturalized American getting radicalized to cause mayhem. Could they just be common criminals who decided to use jihadi methods to build and set off bombs? I suppose so but it's more likely exactly what it looks like.
