Reid Hints at Using 'Nuclear Option' on Judges

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Friday that unless nominations start moving swiftly through the Senate, another round of dramatic rules changes may be in the offing.

“All within the sound of my voice, including my Democratic senators and the Republican senators who I serve with, should understand that we as a body have the power on any given day to change the rules with a simple majority, and I will do that if necessary,” Reid said on Nevada Public Radio.

Personally I sure hope Reid does this. One of the most disgusting things about the Senate Repugs is how they keep blocking the President's appointments for political reasons, no matter how qualified the nominee is.

At least Reid is saying that the rules allow him to do this. I think he might be waiting to see what happens with the big upcoming budget and debt limit fights before doing anything.

Note: Some people here apparently don't understand the realities of the political situations in this country, and as a result, they blame the wrong party for the problems. It's the Repugs that are causing the problems, not the democrats

This is all about raising hopes and asking us to take our eye off the social security egg being laid right now. Let's get everyone focused on the possible rules change in my left hand so nobody will notice what I'm doing with my right hand.

Even if he were (which, history shows, he won't) to use the "nuclear option" ...

Imagine how it would suddenly be the worst thing in the world, ever ...

Threats are only credible if the force behind them is real.

If Reid using the nuclear option I'll run around city hall naked. Pictures to come if I have to do it.

It's a good thing Reid reached that filibuster "agreement" with the GOP back in January, otherwise we could have had quite a bit of GOP obstruction.

Well done, Harry.

Well. Fucking. Done.
