2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumPrediction for the October surprise thread.
After the last debate both sides will almost certainly drop some surprises. For the Democrats if they have anything concrete on Romney's taxes that is when it will come.
The Republicans have a harder time because they haven't left anything behind in attacking him for 5 years.
But I predict that there will be something that will be very difficult for Romney.
and it will be leaked by someone in the Bush circle.
They don't want him to lose they want him eliminated for 2016.
That's my prediction. What's yours?

(5,856 posts)We'll find out he murdered a nun on her way to do charity work, then stomped on defenseless kittens, then punched a toddler in the face, all on camera.
But alas, the race will still be close.

(57,936 posts)And we will learn that after he falls apart when his tax returns come out and we learn that he got tax amnesty a couple of years ago.
Also, we will learn that he hired illegals and took advantage of them in some way. That's a story that is out there and has been ignored.

(57,936 posts)His family members look at him with anxious eyes. Especially his sons.
They are just a tiny bit frightened of him, I would guess. He is very authoritarian, but there is something beyond that.
And the way he jabbed his arm and hand in the debates and could not control himself, could not prevent himself from speaking out of turn. Signs of a manic phase.
In addition, the work he did required him to focus intensely on something for a while -- and then he sort of let it go. That kind of stop and start career would work if you had a lot of strong ups during which you had a lot of energy and then lows during which you could let others take over.
He may have a lot of energy and then not so much. Would not surprise me.
Sometimes bipolar people achieve a lot and then fall apart. Some authors have been like that. They work and work in their manic phases and then drink in their depressions. He doesn't drink, but he may still have severe lows.
In contrast, Obama has a very steady personality. That is one of the things I really like about Obama even though I don't agree with a number of his policies. I'm working hard for Obama because I think he is such a stable, sensible person who can win and lose and carry on. That is what we need in a president.
Steadiness. That is what we need. That is strength.
Romney is not a man of strength. He is volatile.

One was women and sex. Another was alcohol. And a third was emotional stability.
Although I doubt that any of the Kennedys were as unstable as I suspect that Romney is.

Supposedly will reveal some shocking news, though some here thought it might be a viral marketing campaign. It's set to run out tomorrow before the debate.
Anyone?

(39 posts)Reading the recent Salon.com widening circle of Republican voter fraud that seems to be developing into a several-states if not nation-wide scandal in proportion, and which Romney has liability because he paid the guy who is bearing the brunt of the scandal some $72,000 in August...knowing this guy has been cited for alleged voter fraud in earlier election cycles...I'm wondering if Romney will get drawn into the scandal in ways we can't quite know about in total scope yet.
Or perhaps something will come of his and Tagg's investor relationship with the Ohio (and ten other state) specific interests in the voting machines to be used in those states? Call me selfish but once...just once...I would love to see him called to task when caught in a blatant act of some illegal activity. I sense there's lots he's escaped, but maybe for my own self-satisfaction I would like to put to rest my suspicions and know for certain that what I suspect is indeed the case with that man.

(42,770 posts)Interesting you say that because Ann made such a point of getting it out there that "this is it" for them if they lose. They wanted that out there. Perhaps it does tie back to the Bush's plans for Jeb.
Oh god, I just had a horrible tinfoil hat flashback. Bushes help Wrongney "win" FL with their old vote flipping software and he promises not to run in 2016
As for the October surprise, if it does indeed come from Gloria Alred, I think it might be someone who has inside information about his taxes or money dealings that's embarassing.

(658 posts)Child Abuse: Gloria Allred generally doesn't get involved unless it's MASSIVE and involves children/women/abuse/rape/discrimination. Serious.
Or...
Mental Disorder: Ann has dropped that line about worrying about Mittens state of mind, etc. to the press.
Regardless of the October surprise theory, I'm hoping Romnutz completely loses it tomorrow night and either spits in Obama's face (repeatedly) or takes a swing at him - better yet, I hope he jumps Obama and begins beating him upside his head. I'm serious, too. Because then the secret service can drag Mittens off the stage snarling, spitting and speaking incoherently, arrest him and our anxiety will be relieved. And, most importantly, our President can get back to doing what he does best, leading our country.
Bonus - it would be the biggest news in the headlines for weeks/months to follow. And the spin the Repukes would give...so, so entertaining.
