The Dragon's Beard candy looks super tasty too but I think that's one I'll wait to try once my daughter and granddaughters can come visit again.

i love steamed buns.
i remember acquiring a chinese cookbook that was a bit more novel than instruction, but the recipes were ferrealz cultural jewels. almost needed to be written like that.
made birthday duck, and tea smoked chicken, and tangerine peel chicken that could only be made in summer because all the window need to be open despite a high powered hood.

we made steamed buns that were in the shape of flowers. brushed w sesame oil. oh god, what a total delight.

i recently started ordering my my local chinese joint. it's too americanized for me, mostly. i mean, you can get authentic regional stuff just as easily as i can get chow mein from the corner. but when i heard fools were shunning chinese restaurants, i ordered a few times.
they make a steamed sweet bean bun that i am now hopelessly hooked on. cant order from there an not get them.
yummy as they are fresh and warm, they are perfectly chewy and tender for a couple days after. breakfast. mmmm.
they are pretty, too. rice flower, w a bit of pink and green to look just like a pale peach.

thanks for this.
