Richard Dawkins named world's top thinker in poll

http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/booksblog/2013/apr/25/richard-dawkins-named-top-thinker

When Prospect magazine listed Britain's leading public intellectuals in 2004 and invited readers' votes, it was Richard Dawkins who emerged as No 1. Nine years on, the biologist, author and campaigner has bettered that by topping its "world thinkers" rankings, beating four Nobel prize winners (and another contender regarded as certain to receive one soon) in a poll based on 65 names chosen by a largely US- and UK-based expert panel.

This simply cannot be, as some of DU's finest minds (just ask them!) have declared that he is a stupid bigot!

this is just another glaring example as to how religious faith can cloud even the finest of minds and make such minds incapable of making rational judgements about the caliber of other fine minds who might challenge some people's beliefs and faith.

I really doubt that many of DU's "finest minds" have actually read much of Dawkins, perhaps have read a few articles about Dawkins, or seen a few video clips, but few of them probably have forged their way through two or more of his books.

Strange how some of the "finest minds" cannot find themselves comfortable when their belief systems are seriously challenged by a fine mind as well. How quickly those "finest minds" resort to ad-hominem attacks or projections.

With all his important work on the "gawdidit" theory, he was a lock to win. Of course the liberal lame-stream media killed his chances.

that someone who has educated, informed and enlightened millions upon millions of people gets ragged on by those here who can do little more than post things that other people have already written. And even then, they have to lie out their asses to make a case against him as a "bigot".

But as many Christians have shown throughout history, it's OK to lie for Jesus. "Dawkins is an outspoken atheist, therefore he is evil, therefore I am justified in doing whatever I want in order to prove it, including completely making up quotes that show how evil he is!"

Even when they're contradicted by direct quotes from the man himself they still refuse to admit that what they're saying/what they believe/what a friend of a friend of a friend said about him is wrong. Ironically, that makes them more rigid than the man they love to slander, since Prof. Dawkins has said that he'd be perfectly willing to admit God exists if he's shown strong enough evidence.

And I cornered one Dawkins critic with that very information, AFTER I got him to admit that nothing could shake his own belief in god. LMAO. Strangely, he gave up after that point.

I beg to differ.

"BRILLIANCE" being the key word here.... in biology may well exclude bigotry. It certainly teaches that all creatures are deeply and massively related. Not much room for bigotry.

Not suffering fools is another matter altogether.
