Isn't it odd that republicans are gleeful

that the bombers were Muslim, when I don't recall them ever

discussing the religion of our other mass murderers like Sandy Hook and Aurora...etc?

What's up with that?

P.S. I wanted to post this in GD but thought it would get deleted

In fact, we were just about equal in our level of desire for this to have been anti-government teabaggers, even to the point of delusion when the facts came in. I've no doubt how this would have played out here had that actually been the case.

I generally prefer reading more sceptical forums when a story like this breaks, rather than wade through the high intensity rubbish we served up here.

Unlike Sandy Hook, I'd say religion was very much a factor in what inspired the killers.

I been lookin for a place to post this John Fugelsang observation:

"After a week of 'please don't let it be a Muslim' & 'please don't let it be a white guy' it winds up being a Muslim white guy."

I read that Friday afternoon while I was sitting in Chili's eatin a salad, and I laughed like a fucking Viking. And there was no way I could tell them what I was laughing about, under the "too soon" rule.

I know that's not exactly what you're talking about. But there ya go.

The Czech ambassador to the United States has put on record his alarm that during the hunt for the Boston Marathon bombing suspect, so many Americans on social media appeared to confuse his own country - in central Europe - with Chechnya - a republic in south-west Russia.

As the identities of Chechen brothers Dzokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev - the suspects in Monday's attack which killed three and injured over 150 - filtered across the internet, many people tweeted that the pair were from the Czech Republic.

In a statement posted on his embassy's website, Petr Gandalovic said he was "deeply shocked by the tragedy," adding: "As more information on the origin of the alleged perpetrators is coming to light, I am concerned to note in the social media a most unfortunate misunderstanding in this respect. The Czech Republic and Chechnya are two very different entities...

Thanks!

I was a lurker a while back when Double dumb was President, but never really signed up. I got disgusted when the media smeared Dean and then that idiot beat Kerry and I just stopped following politics for a while.

With the marriage equality issues going before SCotUS I have gotten back into politics again. Decided to take the plunge and sign up.

Glad to meet you all!

They are thrilled to have an excuse to go back to their profiling agenda and anti immigrant bigotry

Cons were chomping at the bit to have this guy treated as an enemy combatant, even though there is virtually no difference between him and the Aurora shooter

But boohoo to them. The president said they ain't gettin their wish
