(Jewish Group) Can editors recognize anti-Semitism? An article about Soros suggests no

(THIS IS THE JEWISH GROUP! RESPECT!!)

It was a shock to read in The Chicago Tribune that George Soros is the secret force causing Chicago’s woes.

Yes, that’s The Chicago Tribune, one of America’s major papers, not Hungarian propaganda. And worse, the column claimed that Soros, the Hungarian-born philanthropist, was the reason for the problems of — wait for it — all of urban America.

“These Democratic cities are also where left-wing billionaire George Soros has spent millions of dollars to help elect liberal social justice warriors as prosecutors. He remakes the justice system in urban America, flying under the radar,” longtime Tribune columnist John Kass wrote yesterday, in a column that ran with a photo of Soros.

The idea of the “hidden hand” is one of the oldest anti-Semitic tropes. Or, as Kass put it, “flying under the radar.” It’s an idea found in “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion,” a conspiracy theory that lays out the canard that Jews are secretly controlling the entire world, operating as conspirators against their homes.

The occasion for Kass’s column was the situation in Chicago, a city on edge because of rising violence in a city long plagued by it, coupled with President Trump’s plans to send Federal agents in. Mayor Lori Lightfoot called the proposal “unconstitutional.” “We are not going to have people who don’t know our streets, don’t know our neighborhoods, and then who are engaging in clearly unconstitutional conduct operating at will in our city,” Lightfoot said.

Right wing friend often sends me Kass’ columns. I’d read them and fire back on his blatant diversions and bullshit.

The constant hammering of Soros, coupled with the lies about his life, are amazing. They bitch about Soros’ donations, but when you bring up the Koch brothers, or Scafie, or Perry, or Uihlein, or Ricketts , or even Sheldon Adelson... (Sound of crickets...)

Thanks for posting this.

from time to time in my local paper, and they're always full of right-wing nonsense - but he's really gone over the edge this time. No major paper should carry his columns if that's where he's going now. Yeah, free speech and all, but that's on the line of hate speech, if not over it, and nobody is obligated to give it a hearing. He can write for Breitbart or Stormfront if he wants a platform. Yuck.

But people need to be wary of Soros.

Yes, he supports progressive causes. When they make him money.

And, yes, he's only Jewish when convenient for him to use it as a shield against his many shady acts. In particular, Soros's parents were firmly secular, rejecting Jewish identity and religion for a more pan-European ideal. Soros, to his parents' dismay, went to Yeshiva, was a bright student, and then left, wholly rejecting the ethnicity of Jewish people and our religion as nonsense.

And so, yes, while overblown by the right, he did, indeed, collaborate with the Nazis as a very young man (teenager) -- under the lead of his uncle-by-marriage (I believe I have the ancestry correct). Regardless, he assisted in located Jewish people and Jewish assets and turning them over the Nazis -- for a fee. That's not a quality person.

And, yes, he is no friend of Israel. Consistent with his rejection of the existence of a Jewish people and the validity of our religion, he abhors the State of Israel as something that should not exist. Regardless of where one falls on the Zionist spectrum, he's not particularly good for the Jews in Israel -- who are still our people and in real danger, every day.

So, while I reject Klass, I also reject Soros. He's not good for the Jews.
