Albany man writes book to detail Catholic social teaching

Barry Hudock didn’t just work with the poor. He embraces them.

The husband and father of seven from Albany recently came out with his second book, “Faith Meets World: The Gift and Challenge of Catholic Social Teaching” from Liguori Publications.

“I had been working as the executive director of a pair of nonprofit agencies in West Virginia — kind of in the coal fields and mountains of West Virginia, which is a very poor area,” he said.

“I was gobsmacked by the relevancy of Catholic social teaching to that situation. ... My intent with this book was to make Catholic social teaching accessible and to present it in a real, understandable and compelling way.”
