My mother has been working on our genealogy for about 10 years and she recently discovered that a great, great... grandmother of mine was the only woman ever tried for witchcraft in PA (around 1690). She supposedly made neighbors' livestock float and become apparitions and disappear along with some of their produce. The evidence also seemed to disappear right before the trial . William Penn oversaw the hearings and acquitted her and said she "was free to fly off on her broomstick" showing that the founder of the state and city of Phila had a sense of humor. Now that I know I may have a little Pagan spirituality in my DNA, maybe my tRump spell will be more effective (I am joking...but I wish it were true).

was -- I presume she's passed on from the use of the past tense.

Our of curiosity, how old was she (or is she), and how old are you? I ask because I was introduced to Wicca in the mid-80s, but don't know of any pagan / wiccan / etc. doings prior to that and I'm kinda curious how it survived / grew. That probably doesn't make much sense. It's sort of a "Why didn't I know about this before then?" question.

in the process. She did all the stuff from her side so no mysteries there but my dad's side is new to us. She got a lot of info from old records, the Mormons have a lot) and has been investigating all of the new stuff discovered from my dad's DNA that she sent to one of those places on TV. I go back to Sweden, Norway, England, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland and France. She is 100% Italian and the proof was easy. Lately she has been on a lead which goes back to 600 Norway.

My family settled in the Phia area and all over New Jersey and Long Island and Eastern PA. My mom is 84, so is my dad. I just turned 56 last week. My mom gave me a print from "wikitree", category :witches. sub category:witch trials.

I learned to read tarot cards and two real "witches" who were serious about Paganism, the seasons and all that stuff. I never got into it myself. Mainly I do Tarot readings for myself and friends and follow horoscopes. When I taught school the 5th grade curriculum had the history of the US and the first settlers. I learned from the teacher editions that the witches that were tried in New England were often nurses. The male doctors were pissed off that the nurses were taking some of their patients under their care, making them lose customers/patients/$$$ so they were accused of being witches.

She was in her 80s and living with us (we were in our 40s with late teenagers). We found Paganism on the net for the first time in the early 2000s. It fit us perfectly and we began going to local group events. Mom was always very cautious and did not like us being public , "especially with the kids".
I was hanging a cinnamon broom up for the holidays one year .. Held it up bristles down just to measure where to put a screw... She saw that and very sternly said... "No Dammit, Bristles up ! To keep unwanted company away" She also had strong opinions on colors, Candles and doing things the right way.
She never came out to us as Pagan, but never shared any of her beliefs with me. As children, she would allow us (siblings) to attend churches with others, but never pushed us into any religion. that is something I continued with my kids.

I share your curiosity about how it survived before the internet

Interesting. Was she Irish or English?? ("Celtic" in your ID -- ?) There was more survival of The Old Ways to now through that, I think. And perhaps Eastern European countries.

I was raised Catholic (but left once I realized how misogynist they are) -- and was absolutely furious to learn in my 30s, with my first pagan books in hand, that they (Catholic priests and nuns) wouldn't / couldn't tell me the reason for the vestments, candles, incense, bells, etc. I felt so cheated!! LOL -- esp since I'd been a pretty mystical kid and would have loved to have had some coaching or instruction as to how to go further with my spiritual practice. Ah well.

I do not consider myself pagan, but I've studied and certainly respect it. I'm really more drawn to Native American spirituality -- also pagan, depending on how you define the word, I suppose. I'm mostly just very eclectic.

I suspect Dion Fortune might say, as she did in 'The Mystical Qabalah,' that we are in a Geburah phase, where the corporate corruption has been so bad, that the expansion has lost its balance, and the Warrior King, as Fortune calls the Geburah force, will need to take up the sword of righteousness and clear away the dross.

In a sense, as my dear friend Dan points out, we may have needed the Trump presidency to shake away the complacency, expose the ugliness of white supremacy and corporate greed to the light of the sun. But, as he also points out, Trump is just charismatic enough to win again in 2020, while Pence cannot stand against an articulate Democrat. Trump must be removed from office through Amendment 25 or impeachment and trial in the Senate.

Other editorials I've read suggest we may be in the early process of destroying the American Empire and re-birthing the American Republic.

I do agree with the letter. We cannot sit silently while our nation's potential for good slides down the slope of unrestrained capitalism into the abyss of blood, violence, hunger and revolution. We must resist on all levels.

Trump is an Empty One, soulless. An anti-Christ in the real spiritual sense of that term. He has enlisted other Empty Ones in his administration - wreckers who are literally hell-bent on tearing apart our moral, social and economic fabric. They go against all tenets of good, light and human decency.

Trump is a warrior of darkness. Evil thoughts and deeds grow in the path he has trodden like black mold. I believe there are dark lodges that are very, very powerful who are supporting this band of wreckers.

Blind they are, though, because their greedy quest is based on the two great illusions that have plagued humankind throughout history - wealth and power.

All that said, my friend, I don't do binding spells because of my own values concerning white, gray and black magic. Instead, my efforts are supporting Mueller and his investigation, and promoting in all ways possible, at all levels and in all planes, the emergence of the light of truth around just how evil and corrupt this administration is. This is my way of supporting the metaphysical resistance effort - my own 'magical battle for America.'

When I despair, because these are not fun times, and millions are experiencing Trump-related stress, anxiety and depression, I remember the legend of the Phoenix. This is what we must ensure, that what arises from the ashes is better than what was destroyed. So we endure and resist, all in our own way.

That is used in this spell. I have read tarot cards for fun for a while and the TOWER card I learned about first since it is seen as the worst card when in fact it is the best one. It is the same as the Phoenix rising from the ashes. It means total destruction of everything which seems horrible. The thing people don't often realize is the rebirth/renewal which comes from the destruction. Part way through the spell you invert the card. I like the symbolism of the spell. I RESIST him and his evil admin any way I can and will do everything in my power to stop them from destroying my country. I want to destroy their evil agenda and maybe something new, good and fresh will replace them.

I have found there are other powers besides our own that line up on the side of good.

We can see the demise of Trump and his wreckers happening as we speak. In Cabalistic parlance, he and his minions represent the Kings of Edom, or the forces of the Qliphoth, the evil side of the Cabala. But that battle was fought when the Uncreated imposed order on chaos.

It is kind of cool, though, watching people wake up. I don't know if you saw my post about my brother in law, a die-hard lifelong Republican who is now so disgusted with Trump he tells me he's voting straight blue in November.

You are right about the Tower card. It is only a bad card if you are enmeshed in the illusions of wealth and power.

As they say, Blessed Be!
