We see here an example of how many people do not grasp "Omnipotent and Omniscient": ?w=393
It is getting shared over social media by the Theocrats.

(47,992 posts)was for the rest of us, a single sacrifice, for the last time, so that would not happen to others; some few people have received that message, most have not, so we repeat various iterations of the same insane machine in EVERY aspect of our lives, whether anyone is religious or not, not just churches, but also political and economic and personal, sacrificing any and all others for power and acquisition.
The New Testament is NOT 0, but it certainly also is not what some people are saying it is, to institutionalize their power in our schools and elsewhere is to build the Death Machine that produces slavery, war, a culture of violence, racism, abortion, sexism, Earth-hate . . .
NO mumbo-jumbo about it, it's all absolutely concretely physical: Until people, INDIVIDUALLY, walk in Yeshua's footsteps the crucifixions will continue, you (rhetorical you) will be in the sadistic crowd, in the blaspheming seats of judgement, the ones with the whips, those carrying the swords and spears to threaten anyone who tries to interfere, you'll be amongst the ones who hide somewhere in back rooms, or one of those pounding the actual nails into the lives of those over whom you have that kind of power . . . .
LOOK at history honestly; that's the SAME story and it's abundantly clear that theocracy is a death cult and there is ample evidence that is true in every instance of denial that we encounter.

(26,355 posts)Superheroes are today's rough equivalent of Greek demigods. And I find that paradigm to be less nonsensical than today's monotheistic concept of an omnipotent, omniscient, all-benevolent deity that still somehow manages to sit on his ass when entire regions are destroyed by natural disasters, or when little kids are raped by priests, or when a kindergarten gets shot up by a mad man, and so on.
Spiderman has superpowers, but he's not omnipotent. He's got Spidey-Sense, but he's not omniscient. And he can be troubled, and even make terrible mistakes, but his stories have moral lessons - "With great power comes great responsibility."
If you call for his help, maybe he'll help you if he's got the time. But maybe he's getting his ass kicked by Doc Ock, or he's saving MJ from the Green Goblin. People demand too much of him.
Worshipping Spiderman makes more sense than praying to the Christian deity.
Or maybe I'd be like George Carlin: Worship the sun and pray to Joe Pesci.

Let's concentrate on what is important; what might have happened 2000 years ago.
