My physical therapist said it is the way the seat is positioned. It is hard on hips. Sold mine.

The prices have come down in recent years. They were all custom way back when.. Mine has under seat steering and some have above seat steering. Very relaxing way to ride. No pole up your butt. My only gripe is that you are so low no body can see you...... big flag or not..
Google is your friend for info..

Prices don't look too bad..How did the under-frame steering work for you?

I joined the bacchetta forum..asked a few questions..The articles on first

ride is that there are a few differences from a diamond frame bike..how to

start out..steering...hill riding...

It takes a bit to get use to it. Your arms are down by your sides next to your hips. The bike goes where you look so when turning don't look at the bike..... look where you want to go.
U turns are a bit interesting.. Once I did the look thru thing it was ok. Like riding my motorcycle.. Eyes up, look thru.
The bike is way more comfortable on my back and butt than a standard.. YMMV

7. Things I remember from riding my above frame steering recumbent

Good on the flat, fast downhill, slow up hills
I wished mine had a neck support
I felt a slightly more bent leg gave a firmer connection to the pedals. I guess clipless pedals would solve that, but your legs are way out there if you are tall.
And yes starting out uphill can be a challenge

There are times, not a lot..I get the hardrock over to let pickups

get around . Road sides can be nasty..washed out..dirt windrows

The roads right now are perfect ..
