Novak Djokovic: World number one becomes latest tennis player to test positive for coronavirus

It comes after Grigor Dimitrov, Borna Coric and Viktor Troicki all revealed they had coronavirus after playing at Djokovic's Adria Tour competition.

Djokovic, 33, played fellow Serb Troicki in the first event in Belgrade.

Great Britain's Andy Murray said the positive tests were a "lesson for us", while Australian Nick Kyrgios called playing a "bone-headed decision".

The first leg in Serbia attracted 4,000 fans, and players were later pictured dancing close together in a Belgrade nightclub.

On 18 June, Borna Coric, Grigor Dimitrov, Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev played basketball in Zadar, Croatia. All apart from Zverev have since tested positive for coronavirus

Djokovic is an anti-vaxxer, and generally full of shit on the subject of science and medicine:

Novak Djokovic's anti-vaccination stance may stop his return to tennis

Novak Djokovic says his opposition to vaccinations may get in the way of his return to competitive tennis.

“Personally I am opposed to vaccination and I wouldn’t want to be forced by someone to take a vaccine in order to be able to travel,” the world No 1 said in a live Facebook chat with several fellow Serbian athletes on Sunday. “But if it becomes compulsory, what will happen? I will have to make a decision.

On the show, Djokovic brought up the theory that people’s energy can change the state of the world around them, and then suggested that humans can change the chemical makeup of food and water with their thoughts and emotions.

“It’s the connection that you’re talking about, the innate connection and really being present and being conscious of the moment and being conscious of the fact you’re drinking water," Djokovic said.

“I’ve seen people and I know some people that, through that energetical transformation, through the power of prayer, through the power of gratitude, they manage to turn the most toxic food or the most polluted water, into the most healing water. Because water reacts and scientists have proven that, that molecules in the water react to our emotions, to what is being said.”

Jafarieh agreed with Djokovic, and even cited a study that human emotions can change the molecular state of water.

Kyrgios: "Playing" was "a bone-headed decision."

I am a major tennis fan. While I recognize Djokovic's undeniable playing talents, to me he will NEVER be the kind of all-round role model that Federer and Nadal will always be.

There are several other men's tennis players - both contemporaries and past champions - whose character is far superior to his, IMO.

The fact that he is also an anti-vaxxer makes him anathema to me.
